The M8s-700m from Musical Fidelity is a 1-channel amplifier with an impressive output of 700 watts per monoblock. M8s-700m - Overview
The new M8s-700m monoblock power amplifier is fully balanced and offers an astonishing 700 watts per monoblock with outstanding sound quality and technical performance.
The M8s-700m has extremely low distortion, typically 0.001% at 1 kHz. At 20 kHz the distortion is still less than 0.005 %. The distortion at 50 kHz (a ridiculous and unreasonable measurement that nevertheless reveals the overall performance of the amplifier) is 0.02%. At 100 kHz it is around 0.06%. These exceptional measurements and the extremely low distortion at high frequencies are of great importance in terms of sound.
The noise ratio of the M8s-700m is extremely low at -120 dB A-weighted.
The M8s-700m has enormous power reserves and generates 700 watts RMS into 8 ohms and almost 1300 watts into 4 ohms. It is an absolute powerhouse.

Design + construction
When we launched our limited-edition Titan power amplifier in 2008, its enormous power and unique design demanded very large dimensions and an equally high price.
Subsequent technical advances and strong customer interest inspired us to develop a more affordable, more conventional-looking successor to the Titan: the M8s-700m.
The M8s-700m is a fully balanced monoblock power amplifier that - as the model number suggests - offers 700 watts of power in its sleek black chassis. That's 700 watts RMS into 8 ohms and about 1300 watts into 4 ohms.
This brings it close to the power output of the 1 kW Titan amplifier, and measurements show that in operation there is only about 1.25 dB between them.
Like its predecessor, the Titan, the M8s-700m is designed for extremely low distortion - typically 0.001% at 1 kHz; under 0.005% at 20 kHz. Even at the ridiculous level of 50 kHz, distortion is only 0.02%, rising to around 0.06% at 100 kHz. These figures may seem exaggerated, but they prove one thing: the M8s-700m has significantly less distortion than competing measurements.
Like the Titan, the M8s-700m is a low-noise power amplifier with a minimum signal-to-noise ratio of -120 dB A-weighted.
The combination of enormous power reserves, low distortion and low noise contributes to the M8s-700m's exceptional, effortless performance. It sounds almost indistinguishable from the Titan, demonstrating the same ability to deliver everything from massive dynamics to delicate detail with incredible speed and precision.
No matter what kind of music you want to hear, the M8s-700m serves it up in a spacious soundstage rivaled only by the Titan - or a live musical performance.
Thanks to its power and balance, the M8s-700m can drive almost any speaker you choose and offers flexible connection options. Two speaker terminals facilitate bi-wiring, and the M8s-700m's outputs can be daisy-chained with bi-amp capable speakers. It is, of course, the perfect partner - visually and sonically - for our M8 preamplifier.
Reactions to the new M8s-700m have been extremely enthusiastic. Many press reports have highlighted its more space and budget friendly form, while What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision described it as the "son of Titan".
