The DAX66 from Dayton Audio is a versatile 12-channel amplifier designed as a true matrix system, allowing you to choose from up to six connected source devices in each zone. With four stereo RCA inputs and two 3.5 mm stereo sockets for personal audio devices, the amplifier offers numerous connection options. A further versatile input allows both optical and analog connections. Each zone can be individually controlled via a flush-mounted keypad to adjust volume, bass and treble. The DAX66 uses efficient class D amplifier circuits and offers a powerful output option. For extended applications, 12 V DC trigger outputs, IR extender outputs and a bidirectional RS-232 interface are available.
The DAX66 from Dayton Audio is a 12-channel amplifier designed as a true matrix system. You can choose from up to six connected source devices in each zone and connect them to various audio or audio-video devices via four stereo RCA inputs. In addition, there are two 3.5 mm stereo sockets for personal audio devices and PCs as well as a versatile sixth input for optical or analog connections. Each zone can be individually controlled via a flush-mounted keypad, with volume, bass and treble controls. The DAX66 utilizes efficient Class D amplifier circuitry and offers versatility, including the ability to connect additional systems to extend the audio output to large rooms. Features include 12 V DC trigger outputs, IR extender outputs and a bi-directional RS-232 interface.
The DAX66 is a true matrix system that allows a listener in any zone to select from any of the six connected source devices. Four stereo RCA inputs can be used to connect any audio or audio-video device such as a radio tuner, CD player, Blu-ray DVD player or satellite/cable TV receiver. A personal audio device or PC can be connected via two 3.5 mm stereo sockets. Input six is a common connection that can be used for either a Toslink optical cable or a 3.5 mm stereo audio cable.
Each zone is controlled via a dedicated flush-mounted keypad with backlit soft-touch buttons and LED display. The keypad can be used to change the source, volume, bass and treble. When a zone is not active, the power/select button lights up softly in blue. An integrated IR receiver fulfills a dual function: it enables zone control via a DAXRC remote control and control of the source devices via the integrated IR extender.
The generous output power is achieved through the use of class D amplifier circuits. The DAX66 offers an output power of 25 watts per channel into 8-ohm speakers, 50 watts into 4-ohm speakers and an impressive 100 watts into a single 8-ohm speaker in mono bridge mode. As each output is discrete, some outputs can be operated in mono bridge mode and the other outputs in stereo mode.
If the DAX66 system is installed in a large home or office, up to two additional systems can be connected to the output system. The additional systems share the six source devices and distribute the sound to a maximum of 18 zones. Each zone has a stereo preamplifier output that can be used to connect more powerful amplifiers to cover large rooms. By connecting a Dayton MA1260 or MA1240 to a preamplifier output, a single zone can be expanded to seven zones. The trigger outputs can even be used to control the operating status of the connected amplifiers.
Features of the DAX66 include: 12 V DC trigger output for each zone, IR extender output for each zone; IR ports are compatible with 12 V DC IR emitters, source 1 (PA) overrideable, master mute, AGC on/off and bi-directional RS-232 interface.
