Musical Fidelity's MX DAC is a digital-to-analog converter known for its superior performance and advanced technology. With support for DSD64 and DSD128 formats as well as PCM up to 192 kHz/24 bit, this device impresses with extremely low noise and minimal distortion. The MX-DAC is an outstanding performer. It has extremely low distortion, a very wide bandwidth and low noise. The technical performance of the MX-DAC is comparable to any other DAC at any price. The jitter is about 12pps, the signal-to-noise ratio is -116dB (A-weighted), the linearity is +0.2dB at -116dB, the stereo separation is -104dB at 1kHz, the frequency response is absolutely linear and the distortion is 0.00025% at 1kHz and 0.0003% at 20kHz. These state of the art specifications show that our implementation is almost perfect to ensure a completely neutral and accurate digital-to-analog conversion of each digital input.
The MX DAC has inputs for: 2 x coaxial (up to 24 bit 192 kHz PCM), 2 x optical (up to 24 bit 192 kHz PCM) and asynchronous USB up to 24 bit 192 kHz PCM as well as DSD 64 and DSD 128.
In addition, all inputs, whether from coaxial, optical or USB, are processed in the DSD domain. This desirable feature adds a warmth and humanity to the sound that cannot be achieved by simple digital conversion.
The MX DAC has both unbalanced and balanced outputs.
The new MX range has a beautiful aesthetic and excellent build quality. The front panel and cabinet are made from exclusive custom extrusions of military-grade aluminum.
