Description
In developing the SA Series, which includes the Sundown Audio SA Classic 12" (30cm) subwoofer, Sundown Audio began with an FEA-optimized motor and coil design that allows for 19mm of verified one-way clipping excursion and just over 33mm x-mech. This motor and coil design was then combined with an extremely robust double layer Nomex spider with fully bonded "XL" strands (84 strands), a competition grade SPL paper cone and a strong foam surround. The motor also features a large magnetic ID shorting ring (Faraday ring) to reduce distortion due to inductance and inductance variations across the excursion.
