Product details
DuraTex Spray Grade 4.25 kg speaker enclosure coating
DuraTex is the premier choice for speaker cabinet coatings designed to beautify and protect wood speakers and street cabinets. DuraTex is super easy to apply and has excellent adhesion to wood and other substrates.
The self-priming formulation eliminates the need for multi-stage finishing. DuraTex requires no special primers and is therefore easy to apply with a hopper gun or HVLP pressure pot spray system. It is water-based, so cleanup is easy and NO solvents are required. DuraTex's non-toxic, proprietary blend of high-tech polymers and low-volatility organic compounds is touch-dry in three hours (fully cured in about seven days) and forms a tough, waterproof surface.
Applying multiple layers of DuraTex to a cabinet or enclosure increases the strength and weather resistance of the surfaces. DuraTex is also easy to clean and maintain, so the surface will look like new even after years of use!
Application
Apply a spray grade using a hopper gun, pressure tank HVLP or airless spray system in a completely even coat over the entire surface to fully seal and protect the surface. Once the base coat is dry, apply a spray texture coat by lowering the air brake pressure. The spray pressure will depend on the type of spray equipment used. Test the spray application technique on a piece of cardboard first and note the pressure settings required to achieve the desired finish. A typical pressure pot primer uses only 15# liquid pressure and 30# air pressure. Texturing uses 20# of fluid pressure and only 5-10# of air pressure.
Higher air pressure = smaller dots. Lower air pressure creates larger dots. A higher fluid pressure + a higher air pressure create a smoother orange peel surface. Several coats of paint create a "stone look" surface!
All materials must be completely dried by air drying or forced drying in an oven. The drying temperature must not exceed 65 °C. Heating will accelerate the curing process of DuraTex®, but normal air drying will achieve the same end result over time. (Convection heating is optional but will speed production throughput). Do not apply this product to damp surfaces or when the surface temperature is or will be below 15.5°C and the relative humidity is above 70%.
