Description
The ZEUS series, from which the Hifonics ZEUS ZXO-2 crossovers originate, have been synonymous with power and excellent sound in the HiFonics range for many years. For the first time, individual components such as high-quality cast aluminum mid-range drivers and basses are now available in addition to composite systems and coaxes, making 3-way combinations possible. The woofer in the compo set (available separately as ZX6.2W) comes with a cast aluminum basket and an aluminum phase plug. The sandwich cone is made of a triple fiberglass composite material, which is particularly light yet extremely stable. The frequency response is extremely linear and requires hardly any corrections through "crossover tricks". The powerful 14 ounce magnetic drive unit, which drives a very large 30.5 mm voice coil, provides plenty of power. This enables a total mechanical excursion of up to +/- 11 mm. The 25 mm fabric neodymium tweeter ZX6.2T with coupling volume (resonance frequency 700 Hz), which is also available separately, covers a particularly wide frequency range up to well over 24 kHz in a very linear fashion.
The highlight of the 2-way compo set, however, is that it is already prepared for 3-way operation: the 7.5 cm optional ZXM3 midrange driver can be connected to the ZXO-2 crossover with little effort: simply switch the jumpers in the crossover to 3-way, connect the midrange driver with bandpass crossover and you're done. The midrange driver also boasts outstanding components such as a cast aluminum basket, an aluminum cone, a large 25 mm voice coil, an extra rear-ventilated spider and a powerful neodymium drive.
