Frequently Asked Questions about ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01

How does the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 adapter work?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 from ACV is an active system adapter that allows an aftermarket radio to be connected to the vehicle's own active system of a Mercedes. It integrates the OEM sound system by adapting the output signals to the signal input of the OEM amplifier. The adapter supports the MOST25 data bus and connects it via RCA outputs (red/white) to the front pre-amplifier output of the aftermarket radio. It retains the functionality of the OEM amplifier and speakers; however, features such as fader or extensive sound and subwoofer settings are not supported. It is recommended to check functionality before final assembly.

What should be considered when installing the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

When installing the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01, it must be ensured that all OEM additional components such as CD changers, TV tuners, and phone modules are removed from the MOST ring to avoid interference. The adapter uses a fiber optic connector that must be integrated into the MOST ring. ISO connectors (male/female) are used for wiring. Since some fader functions are not supported, it is important to check compatibility with the existing system before final assembly. The adapter is not compatible with vehicles that use the D2B optical bus system.

Which vehicle models are supported by the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 adapter is compatible with various Mercedes vehicle models. Supported models include the CLK-Class (A209/C209) from 04/2005 to 01/2010, the CLS-Class (C219) from 04/2008 to 09/2010, the E-Class (W211) from 02/2008 to 08/2009, the SL-Class (R230) from 04/2008 to 12/2011, and the SLK-Class (R171) from 04/2008 to 03/2011. Vehicles without Comand 2.0/2.5 OEM navigation or without the D2B optical bus system are not supported. Vehicle specifications should be checked before installation.

What differences are there when connecting the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 to different systems?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 enables the connection of aftermarket radios to various systems by performing the MOST> Cinch transition. This means that in vehicles with Audio 50 APS Comand NTG2/NTG2.5 and MOST25 OEM sound systems, the adapter is functional. The adapter is not supported in systems without these specifications. It is important to correctly connect the ISO(m) and ISO(f) connection points and to use the optical fibers for stable data transmission in the MOST ring. CD changers and similar components must be removed from the MOST ring to ensure full functionality.

Why are certain features not available in the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 is designed to establish a connection between aftermarket radios and OEM active systems. Some features such as fader or advanced sound and subwoofer settings are not supported because they may not be compatible with the recorded signal path or are not transferable in the standardized MOST25 protocol. In particular, with complex controls that go beyond the OEM amplifier, such features may be omitted. It is recommended to check the specific requirements of the existing sound system for additional features before installation.

What connections does the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 make?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 adapter connects the MOST data bus to RCA analog outputs. The specific connection is made via ISO connectors that feed the signals into the vehicle amplifier. This utilizes the front pre-amplifier output of the aftermarket radio, enabling the integration of the system. This ensures the retention of the OEM amplifier and speakers. It is recommended to ensure the proper connection of the RCA connectors to achieve optimal sound quality. Additionally, prior test runs should ensure compatibility and potential sources of interference should be excluded.

How should optical fibers be considered with the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 uses optical fibers for data transmission in the MOST ring. These are crucial for the modular connection of devices in the vehicle, as they ensure signal strength and transmission with minimal loss. During installation, the appropriate optical fiber connector should be chosen; item numbers 771000-2100 or 771000-2101 refer to suitable components. Correctly connecting the optical fibers is essential to ensure connection quality. Improper integration can lead to connection interruptions. Precise handling of optical fibers ensures the stability of signal transmission.

Can additional audio components be used with ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

When using the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01, it is necessary to remove certain OEM additional components such as CD changers, TV tuners, or phone modules from the MOST ring to ensure error-free functionality. This is because these components may interfere with or block signal transmission. The adapter is primarily intended for connecting the aftermarket radio to the existing active system and does not allow for the addition of extra audio components within the MOST ring. This is a limitation of the MOST25 system, which, while ensuring high-quality transmission, is limited in the number of supported modules.

How do vehicle modifications affect the use of the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

Vehicle modifications can affect the use of the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 in that unforeseen electrical or acoustic changes may impact the installation and functionality. For example, modifications to the sound system that go beyond replacing the radio could affect adapter compatibility. Particularly with modifications that interfere with the MOST data bus or the vehicle's wiring, a new compatibility check should be performed. To ensure proper functionality, it should be ensured that all components meet or do not exceed OEM specifications.

What technical limitations exist with the ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01?

The ASA Mercedes MOST>Cinch 01 adapter has specific technical limitations that must be considered. This includes that the fader is not supported, as signal processing does not allow for it. Additionally, the adapter is not compatible with vehicles that do not use a MOST25 OEM sound system or do not have a Comand NTG2/NTG2.5. ISO connectors are necessary for proper connection and must be connected correctly. An accurate check before final assembly is essential to ensure that all required components are correctly integrated and that no vehicle functions are improperly affected.
