The Accuton AS190-9-251 is a bass speaker with a diameter of 190 mm and an aluminum honeycomb sandwich membrane. It is exclusively designed for use in home hi-fi applications and must not be installed in vehicles under any circumstances. The new design allows for an ideal acoustic center that is identical to Accuton's CELL tweeters and midrange drivers.

The novel overhang construction combines the advantages of traditional over- and under-hang constructions and delivers a high linear displacement with extremely low distortion. A particularly hard aluminum sandwich membrane has been developed for the CELL bass drivers, allowing for very low delay and energy storage. The hidden centering reduces the overall outer diameter and enables a linear mechanical displacement of up to +/- 16 mm. A newly developed centering spider allows for large displacement without compression. We recommend our Accuton AS190-9-251 for applications from 30 Hz to 1000 Hz.

With a sensitivity of 84 dB and a power handling of 250 watts, it offers solid performance. The voice coil is vented and measures 78 mm in diameter. Its total weight is 14 kg, and the Thiele-Small parameters emphasize its acoustic precision. It particularly shows its strengths at frequencies from 30 Hz to 1000 Hz. A vented voice coil with a force factor Bl of 13.5 N/A underscores its high efficiency.
For the Accuton AS190-9-251, the Thiele-Small parameters are crucial for its performance. The free-air resonance frequency is 33.4 Hz, the mechanical quality factor (Qms) is 4.75, and the electrical quality factor (Qes) is 0.49, resulting in a total quality factor (Qts) of 0.44. These values define its efficiency and bass reproduction. The equivalent volume (Vas) is 26.7 liters, indicating its capability for low-frequency reproduction. Its efficiency is highlighted by a high sensitivity of 84 dB and a force factor (Bl) of 13.5 N/A. Together, they significantly influence the sound behavior and dynamic reproduction of the subwoofer.
For the Accuton AS190-9-251 subwoofer, different enclosure designs are recommended. In a sealed enclosure, two options are ideal: a volume of 11 liters at -9dB @ 40Hz results in an F-3dB of 63Hz and a Q of 0.71. The second variant includes 35 liters, -7dB @ 40Hz with an F-3dB of 70Hz and a Q of 0.50, for extended bass. Bass reflex enclosures include a volume of 24 liters with a port diameter of 70 mm and a length of 300 mm, resulting in a resonance frequency (Fres) of 36Hz at F-3dB of 36Hz. A larger volume of 35 liters with a port length of 245 mm further extends the bass range.
The Accuton AS190-9-251 is not suitable for use in vehicles. It was specifically designed for home and studio applications and does not meet the special requirements of automotive environments. Instead, Accuton offers a special Automotive series that is tailored to the conditions in vehicles, such as vibration resistance and temperature stability. For automotive applications, the Carhifi version from Accuton can be requested through Masori. This version meets the high demands for audio quality and reliability in vehicles. However, for use in home or studio setups, the AS190-9-251 is ideal due to its special diaphragm and construction.
The aluminum sandwich membrane of the Accuton AS190-9-251 is special because it is extremely stable and resilient, with an exceptionally low energy storage and delay. This membrane technology combines excellent stiffness with minimized weight, resulting in significantly reduced membrane distortion and maximum linear displacement. Its construction from a honeycomb sandwich structure effectively avoids unwanted resonances, leading to precise and clear sound reproduction, especially in the bass range. If you want to meet high sound demands in home and studio applications, it delivers outstanding low-frequency reproduction with minimal distortion.
The Accuton AS190-9-251 subwoofer is characterized by specific voice coil features, including a vented design that optimizes heat dissipation and enhances performance. The voice coil diameter is 78 mm, while the voice coil carrier material is made of titanium, which increases stability and durability. The conductor material is CCAW (copper-clad aluminum wire) and the inductance is 1.05 mH, supporting a dynamic audio profile. The impedance is 9 ohms, with a power handling capacity of 250 watts and a linear excursion Xmax of +/-9 mm. It does not use ferrofluid in the air gap, promoting a more natural-sounding bass reproduction.
The force factor Bl with a value of 13.5 N/A in the Accuton AS190-9-251 plays a crucial role in sound output. A higher force factor means a stronger interaction between the coil and the magnetic field, which increases the ability to precisely control the diaphragm movement. This leads to a more direct and dynamic sound reproduction, especially in the bass range. The force factor affects efficiency by converting electrical power into mechanical movement and helps to drive the speaker accurately. Especially for applications that require clear bass definition, this value provides a convincing answer.
The mechanical quality Qms of 4.75 is a measure of the mechanical damping of the suspension and centering of the Accuton AS190-9-251. It indicates how well the speaker compensates for mechanical losses. A higher Qms value means less mechanical damping, which suggests greater freedom of movement for the diaphragm. In conjunction with the balanced electrical quality Qes of 0.49, this results in a total quality Qts of 0.44. These values directly influence the resonance characteristics and frequency response, allowing for accurate sound reproduction, especially in the low-frequency range. Therefore, the mechanical quality is a central factor for the quality of the bass speaker.
The effective diaphragm area Sd of the Accuton AS190-9-251, at 202 cm², is a crucial factor for the volume and efficiency of the low-frequency output. A larger diaphragm area means more air displacement, which leads to higher sound pressure and thus louder and fuller bass sounds. The Sd directly contributes to the performance of the driver by improving efficiency and enhancing sound projection. Especially at low frequencies, it is essential for achieving strong and full bass reproduction. The uniqueness of this size results from the special diaphragm construction of the speaker, which provides both precision and pressure.
The ventilated voice coil of the Accuton AS190-9-251 offers significant advantages in operation. It helps dissipate heat generated by the current flow, which enhances the performance and reliability of the speaker. This protects the voice coil from thermal overloads and ensures consistent sound quality even at maximum load of 250 watts. The ventilation supports the linearity of the voice coil movement, minimizing distortion and ensuring clear audio playback. Especially in long-term use, this design approach increases the durability and efficiency of the woofer system and is therefore a key feature of its design.
