The C7-650CW high-end mid-woofers from JL Audio redefine the car speaker experience. Designed as a 6.5" (16.5cm) diameter component woofer, these speakers pack innovation and sophisticated design into a compact, powerful package. The advanced technology features include exceptional linear excursion, excellent linearity and minimal distortion. These speakers can be used in 3-way systems with mid-range and tweeter or in 2-way configurations with a tweeter. Another plus point is that they are recommended for use in active systems without passive crossovers. The C7-650CW measures up to industry standards and offers a strong, precise performance in the midrange range.

- C7 is the pinnacle of JL Audio's car speaker design, benefiting from JL's most advanced development tools and full commitment to precision manufacturing.
- The C7-650cw component woofer can operate in a 3-way system with a midrange and a tweeter, or with just a tweeter in a 2-way configuration. It has been designed from the ground up to have exceptional linear excursion and excellent linearity, resulting in a solid midrange and pure, precise midrange performance. Distortion and non-linearity have been minimized by optimizing the dynamic motor and suspension behavior.
- Passive crossovers are not included with the C7 drivers as they are designed for active systems. Instead, we recommend a high quality tuning DSP, such as the JL Audio TwK™ 88 or D8, or a VXi amplifier with built-in DSP, with a dedicated amplifier channel for each C7 speaker in the system. Precise adjustment of equalization, delay and crossover filters ensures optimal performance in the vehicle.
- C7-650cw Construction Notes:
- Cone and dust cap: Vacuum-formed, mineral-filled polypropylene material provides excellent damping and low mass. The cone body has a gently curved profile to optimize response. A specially shaped dust cap is attached to the cone body and voice coil former to improve high frequency response.
- Suspension design: The moving assembly is suspended and dampened by a large diameter, linear profile spider molded from a Nomex®/polycotton blend and a positive roller rubber surround. Both together provide optimal damping without prematurely limiting the C7-650cw's excellent articulation.
- Motor Design: The C7-650cw features a high-density magnetic circuit with a high-quality Y35 Strontium Ferrite magnet and a specially machined T-Yoke motor topology. The motor magnets have been precisely optimized using advanced FEA tools to reduce distortion and ensure linear motor force across the entire driver power range.
- It uses a 32 mm (1.27 inch) diameter voice coil wound with copper wire on a fiberglass voice coil former. The oversized voice coil provides extended power handling and minimizes thermal compression and distortion at higher listening levels.
- Chassis Construction: A specially designed cast alloy basket is used, which features thin spokes to maximize the rear open area and JL's patented "Elevated Frame Cooling Technology".

- Available individually, with a cast alloy mesh insert, a fine mesh steel mesh insert and a spiral steel mesh insert.
