Frequently Asked Questions about MA 4

What amplifier technology does the Eton MA 4 use?

The Eton MA 4 uses the newly developed Advanced Class-D amplifier technology. This technology is known for its high efficiency and low heat generation, making it ideal for automotive applications. It offers excellent sound quality with low distortion, as highlighted by the THD+N value of only 0.005% at 5W and 1 kHz. This means that the amplifier delivers consistent sound quality even at higher power levels, which is beneficial for music lovers who pay attention to sound details. The Advanced Class-D technology combines power with a compact design, ensuring reliable amplification with minimal space requirements.

What power can the MA 4 amplifier deliver at 2 ohms per channel?

The Eton MA 4 amplifier delivers an impressive power of up to 185 watts at 2 ohms per channel. This is ideal for applications where high volume levels are required without compromising the clarity of the audio signal. The high power at 2 ohms allows the amplifier to provide stable sound output even under demanding conditions. Especially in vehicles where fewer speakers can be used due to space constraints, this power offers the opportunity to still enjoy comprehensive sound.

What does the housing design of the Eton MA 4 look like?

The housing of the Eton MA 4 is made from extremely high-quality aluminum using a die-casting process and features a matte Gunmetal Grey finish. The top aluminum plate is removable and can be rotated 180 degrees, allowing for flexible adjustment and better access during installation. This design not only provides an appealing look but also ensures efficient heat dissipation. Especially during prolonged use or high power, effective cooling is crucial to ensure the longevity of the amplifier.

What are the high-pass and low-pass filter options of the MA 4?

The MA 4 features adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters with a slope of 12 dB/octave. For channels CH1/2 and CH3/4, the high-pass filters can be set in the range of 15 to 300 Hz and 300 Hz to 6 kHz, respectively. The low-pass filters for channels CH3/4 are also adjustable within this frequency range. Such filters are particularly useful for amplifying or reducing specific frequency ranges to tailor the sound to the user's acoustic preferences or the characteristics of the vehicle. This flexibility is essential for achieving the best possible sound results in the vehicle.

How many input signals can the Eton MA 4 process?

The Eton MA 4 can process a total of 8 input signals, divided into 4 high-level inputs and 4 low-level inputs (RCA). This allows for a versatile combination of signal sources, enabling the amplifier to be used in both simple and complex audio systems. The high-level inputs are adjustable and offer various input impedances of 10, 150, and 600 ohms, as well as adjustable input signal voltages between 1 and 15 V or 15 and 40 V. This variability of signal inputs provides significant flexibility regarding integration into existing audio systems.

What installation options does the Eton MA 4 offer?

The Eton MA 4 offers flexible installation options due to its detachable connection plugs and variable mounting feet. These features facilitate quick and easy installation in various vehicles and placements. Concealed mounting is made possible by additional mounting points and blind holes, which is particularly advantageous in vehicles with limited space. Another practical feature is that the amplifier is stackable, allowing for a compact arrangement of multiple units without obstructing access to the connection terminals.

What are the dimensions of the Eton MA 4?

The Eton MA 4 has compact dimensions of 184 mm in length, 160 mm in width, and 51 mm in height. These small measurements make it particularly suitable for installation in vehicles with limited space. Despite its compact size, the Amplifier offers high performance and user-friendliness. When installing, care should be taken to ensure there is enough space for air circulation around the Amplifier to ensure optimal heat distribution.

Is the Eton MA 4 compatible with common car brands?

The compatibility of the Eton MA 4 with car brands primarily arises from its flexible installation options and compact dimensions of 184 x 160 x 51 mm. Although no specific car brands are mentioned, the customizable mounting options and connections are designed to allow for seamless integration into a variety of vehicles. The variable input voltage and adjustable filters enhance the adaptability of the MA 4, making it compatible with most standard and high-quality audio systems from various car brands.

What is the damping factor of the MA 4 at 4 Ohms?

The Eton MA 4 offers an impressive damping factor of over 165 at 4 Ohms. A high damping factor is important for improving control over the speaker diaphragm, leading to clearer and more precise audio playback, especially at low frequencies. This technical specification is an indicator of the quality of the Amplifier and its ability to produce detailed sound by minimizing unwanted movements of the speaker diaphragm. If you enjoy listening to music in high quality, this damping factor is a significant advantage.

What Auto-Sense On features does the Eton MA 4 offer?

The Eton MA 4 features a user-friendly Auto-Sense On function that can work with both SIG and DC. This function allows the Amplifier to automatically turn on as soon as an input signal is detected, significantly enhancing user convenience and simplifying integration into existing audio systems. The Auto-Sense On function is particularly useful because it eliminates the need for manual activation of the Amplifier, ensuring a seamless connection between the audio source and the Amplifier.
