Frequently Asked Questions about Quantum QL800.8

What power does the Quantum QL800.8 Amplifier from ESX offer?

The Quantum QL800.8 Amplifier provides impressive performance values, reaching up to 160 Watts RMS per channel at 2 Ohms, thanks to the Dynamic Headroom technology that utilizes efficient power. In bridged mode, it is possible to generate 2 x 250 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms on channels 5/6 and 7/8. These performance values are supported by advanced Class D technology, which ensures a high efficiency of up to 87%. Combined with its robust MOSFET-PWM Power Supply, it ensures stable amplifier performance that meets even demanding audiophile needs.

What advantages does the Dynamic Headroom technology in the Quantum QL800.8 offer?

The Dynamic Headroom technology (DHR) in the Quantum QL800.8 allows for efficient utilization of the amplifier's power reserves by dynamically adjusting the power to the needs of the channels. By distributing frequency ranges across different channels, maximum utilization of the amplifier power is achieved without all channels operating at full power simultaneously. This feature is particularly beneficial as it prevents individual channels from overloading the amplifier, resulting in reduced distortion and improved audio quality. DHR optimizes the sound performance for complex sound systems.

What is the design of the MOSFET-PWM Power Supply of the Quantum QL800.8?

The MOSFET-PWM Power Supply of the Quantum QL800.8 is specifically optimized to ensure a fast and stable power supply. This design allows for high current levels to be individually delivered to the channels on demand. MOSFETs guarantee efficient switching, minimizing heat loss and thus increasing the amplifier's efficiency. In combination with PWM technology (Pulse Width Modulation), this power supply not only provides precise control of the output power but also ensures instantaneous energy supply during sudden load changes, which is particularly advantageous for dynamic audio content.

What configuration options does the Quantum QL800.8 offer?

The Quantum QL800.8 Amplifier offers a variety of configuration options to power both 2-way and 3-way systems effectively. Thanks to its full channel bridging capability, flexible adjustments can be made to achieve maximum output power. The use of high-level inputs with Error Protection System expands its applications even in OEM systems with high user-friendliness. For example, the HPF (High Pass Filter) from 50-5000 Hz is ideal for tuning the crossovers, while the LPF (Low Pass Filter) from also 50-5000 Hz can be specifically used to control bass tones within a selected frequency range.

What advantages do the high-level inputs with Error Protection System offer?

The high-level inputs with integrated Error Protection System (EPS) of the Quantum QL800.8 provide significant flexibility for integration into various audio systems. This system protects the amplifier from potential input signal anomalies and surges that could arise from improper connections or defects in the audio source. This is crucial, especially in OEM radio integrations, to prevent disturbances or damage. The automatic power-on feature also allows the amplifier to be conveniently turned on without an external controller, significantly enhancing user-friendliness and safety.

How is the high efficiency of the Quantum QL800.8 achieved?

The high efficiency of the Quantum QL800.8 Amplifier is achieved through its advanced Class D technology, which is responsible for an efficiency of up to 87%. This technology minimizes energy losses during power amplification by operating the transistors in binary mode (On/Off). The massive aluminum heat sink quickly dissipates the generated waste heat, improving the thermal stability of the amplifier. The carefully selected audiophile components also ensure accurate signal processing that operates without significant heat generation, leading to overall lower energy requirements.

What accessories are included or optionally available with the Quantum QL800.8?

The Quantum QL800.8 Amplifier comes with a compact bass level remote that allows for individual and sensitive adjustment of the bass level, which is particularly beneficial when adapting to different music genres. Optional extensions such as monoblocks (e.g., the QL800.1 with up to 800 watts RMS at one ohm) are available, which can unleash even more power potential when combined. These accessories are crucial for users who desire a tailored audio experience and seek greater flexibility in their audio configuration.

Can the Quantum QL800.8 Amplifier be installed in any vehicle?

The Quantum QL800.8 is versatile and can be used in many vehicles, but it is important to consider its dimensions of 285 x 47 x 170 mm before installation to ensure there is enough space available. These compact dimensions allow for easy integration even in vehicles with limited mounting space. A stable power supply is also important to ensure maximum performance. Adjustments in wiring and space may be necessary, especially if existing audio systems differ in size or power consumption.

How does the automatic power-on function of the Quantum QL800.8 work?

The automatic power-on function of the Quantum QL800.8 is designed to start the Amplifier automatically as soon as an input signal is detected. This greatly simplifies operation, especially in systems where the Amplifier is hard to access or cannot be turned on directly by hand. This function is integrated into high-level inputs and ensures that the Amplifier is activated when the vehicle is turned on or when the audio source is switched on. This significantly improves convenience, as no one has to manually switch between different device parts to start enjoying the music.

What filter options does the Quantum QL800.8 offer?

The Quantum QL800.8 is equipped with both high-pass (HPF) and low-pass filters (LPF) that allow for precise control of frequency output. The HPF options range from 50-5000 Hz, allowing for the filtering out of low-frequency noise and optimizing audio quality. The LPF, also with a range of 50-5000 Hz, controls the upper limit of the signal frequency, ideal for Subwoofer or bass-heavy speaker channels. These flexible settings are particularly useful for adjusting the sound balance according to preference and speaker orientation in the vehicle, leading to a more harmonious sound profile.
