Quantum QL800.8 by ESX

The Quantum QL800.8 from ESX is a state-of-the-art 8-channel amplifier that stands out with its advanced Class D technology and Dynamic Headroom technology. This efficient technology enables an impressive output of up to 160 watts RMS per channel. With its distinctive features such as a massive aluminum heat sink, MOSFET PWM power supply, and high-level inputs with Error Protection System, the Quantum QL800.8 is a masterpiece of audiophile technology. Configured for performance-optimized 2- or 3-way systems, this amplifier offers better performance than it may nominally appear at first glance. The complete channel bridging allows for flexible adaptation to your individual needs.

properties

  • Compact Quantum amplifiers in Class D technology have been the spearhead of the ESX program for years. The range extends from the 4 x 300 Watt RMS strong and EISA Award-winning QE1200.4 to 1 Ohm stable monoblocks, all the way to the palm-sized QS-TWO, which fits anywhere. The large selection allows for many combination possibilities. But that's not all: ESX is now expanding the Quantum program with two additional Class D multi-channel amplifiers, offering a powerful 6 x or 8 x 125 Watt RMS at 2 Ohm, peak sound quality, and the latest features.
  • The new models of the Quantum QL series occupy a special position in the ESX program in this context. Ideally, 6- and 8-channel amplifiers are configured to drive not power-intensive 12- or 15-inch subwoofers, but to unleash their potential in 2- or 3-way systems. ESX multi-channel amplifiers are designed to utilize the many channels and adjustment options to optimally supply tweeters and midrange drivers or mid-bass drivers. In this configuration, they then have a significantly higher power than might be nominally assumed at first glance – specifically up to 160 watts RMS per channel. How is this possible? Quite simply! By actively distributing the frequency ranges across multiple channels or speakers in the vehicle, not all speakers play simultaneously at full power. In this case, the amplifier utilizes the power reserves of the generous power supply, which all channels can access if needed. This feature is referred to by ESX as Dynamic Headroom Technology or simply DHR.
  • "If one decides to use four 2-channel models instead of an 8-channel amplifier, the DHR function or dynamic power gain would not be realizable. This is because the power supply of the first amplifier is not capable of driving the channels of the second amplifier as well. In this regard, 6- and 8-channel ESX amplifiers have a dynamic advantage in multi-channel applications."
  • If, for budget reasons, it is still planned to achieve complete sound coverage of the vehicle with only one Quantum power amplifier, including a subwoofer, this is also not a problem thanks to the equipment and the bridging capability of all channels. It is even possible to control the bass level via a wired bass remote. For the QL800.6, it is recommended to bridge channels 5/6, providing 250 watts of mono power. The QL800.8 can deliver even more, as it can provide 2 x 250 watts RMS at 4 ohms on the bridged channels 5/6 and 7/8, including bass control, thanks to the copy function. For those who want even more comfort and power, the new multi-channel amplifiers can be combined, for example, with a monoblock QL800.1, which can then confidently deliver up to 800 watts RMS at one ohm.
