Frequently Asked Questions about DSP68

What inputs does the DSP68 from Musway offer?

The DSP68 from Musway is equipped with a variety of inputs that enable sophisticated audio configurations. These include six high-level inputs that support a voltage of 3 to 21 volts RMS, and a stereo AUX input with a voltage of 1 to 5 volts RMS. Additionally, there are six low-level inputs (RCA) that can also accept 1 to 5 volts RMS. For high-resolution audio processing, there is also an optical digital input that works with a PCM signal of 96 kHz / 24 Bit, allowing for audiophile listening experiences. These diverse connection options make the DSP68 a flexible solution for numerous audio test systems.

What technical protection mechanisms does the DSP68 have?

The Musway DSP68 features an integrated load detection protection circuit called EPS (Error Protection System). This protection circuit is particularly implemented at the high-level inputs and provides stable audio performance without compression effects even at input voltages of up to 21 volts RMS. This system is essential to ensure consistent sound quality and to prevent damage from excessive signal peaks. In addition to the EPS, the DSP68 also has an automatic power-on function and is start-stop ready, meaning that the device is adapted for modern vehicles with start-stop automation and does not need to be restarted during ignition pauses.

How is the DSP technology structured in the Musway DSP68?

The DSP68 from Musway employs a dual 32-bit DSP technology orchestrated by an Analog Devices DSP of the type ADAU1452. This technology is based on a clock speed of 330 MHz, ensuring high-precision audio processing and real-time signal manipulation. For audio processing, the DSP68 uses Burr-Brown converters, specifically the PCM3168A, which is known for its sonic excellence. This combination of powerful DSP hardware and high-quality converters ensures that the Musway DSP68 effortlessly meets demanding acoustic requirements. Access to the DSP functions is provided through the newly developed V3 DSP software and V3 app, which offers comprehensive control options.

What control options does the DSP68 from Musway offer?

The DSP68 from Musway allows for detailed control via a special V3 DSP software and a V3 app that can be used on both PCs and mobile devices. For the audiophile user, an optional digital remote control (DRC1) is also available, equipped with an OLED display that provides access to many DSP functions. An external Bluetooth® USB dongle option offers the possibility of audio streaming and additional control functions via mobile apps. These extensive control options allow for complete customization of the sound system to individual sound preferences and vehicle environments.

How does the housing design of the DSP68 affect the sound?

The housing design of the Musway DSP68 features a high-quality full aluminum case that not only provides an elegant look but also offers functional advantages. The material acts as a heat sink, ensuring that the heat generated during signal processing is efficiently dissipated, thereby guaranteeing stable performance. Additionally, the aluminum housing protects the sensitive electronic components inside from external influences such as mechanical stress or electromagnetic interference. This robust construction contributes to the longevity of the device and ensures consistently high sound quality by minimizing unwanted vibrations and resonances.

What channels are available on the Musway DSP68?

The Musway DSP68 offers a comprehensive 8-channel configuration that enables detailed audio control. Each of these eight channels can be individually adjusted and configured to achieve optimal sound in any environment. This variety of channels supports precise separation of audio signals and allows the user to design a complex speaker setup with different frequency ranges in a detailed and flexible manner. The RCA outputs are designed with a voltage of 6.5 volts RMS, ensuring strong output power and efficiently driving a wide range of speakers and amplifiers.

What are the dimensions of the DSP68 and why are they important for installation?

The Musway DSP68 has compact dimensions of 181 x 41 x 124 mm. These measurements are particularly significant for installation in vehicles, as they allow for space-saving integration. Especially if you have a vehicle with limited space, the small size of the DSP68 is advantageous for installation under the seat or in other tight areas. It is important to ensure that there is enough space for ventilation and cable routing during installation. The compact dimensions not only facilitate installation but also allow for flexible positioning in the vehicle.

What advantages does the optical input in the DSP68 offer?

The integrated optical digital input in the Musway DSP68 is particularly of interest to users who demand the highest audio quality. This input allows for the feeding of audio signals in PCM format with up to 96 kHz and 24 bit, ensuring lossless transmission and detailed sound reproduction. Compared to conventional analog inputs, signals are transmitted through the optical input without the risk of electromagnetic interference, which ensures purer audio quality. This feature makes the DSP68 ideal for integration into high-end audio systems that prefer digital signal paths.

To what extent is the DSP68 compatible with vehicles?

The compatibility of the Musway DSP68 with various vehicles is ensured by its intelligent connection options and start-stop-ready function. The high-level input with a load detection protection circuit ensures that it can be integrated into modern vehicles without causing issues with power supply. The automatically activating power-on function is also an advantage for compatibility, as it makes the DSP68 ready for use as soon as the vehicle is started. These features facilitate integration into both older and modern vehicles with complex electronic systems.

How can the external Bluetooth® USB dongle in the DSP68 be used?

The external Bluetooth® USB dongle for the Musway DSP68 offers a convenient way to stream audio wirelessly and control the system via mobile apps. This feature is particularly useful when you want to seamlessly connect different playback devices. The dongle (BTS & BTA2) allows smartphones or tablets to pair wirelessly with the DSP68 to transmit music, while the app control permits further adjustments to the DSP settings. This connectivity enhances the device's flexibility and provides a seamless user experience, especially in vehicles where wireless controls and audio transmissions are preferred.
