Prima APBX 8 R by Audison

Audison Prima APBX 8 R is an 8-inch Enclosed Subwoofer in a bass reflex design with an ultra-flat housing. The slot-porting design is tuned to the APS 8 R driver and utilizes the pressure chamber effect below 60 Hz. The 2S² design allows for down-firing or up-firing. The SSP Sub Smart Plug integrates pressure contacts and a plug-and-play terminal block for impedance configuration with quick release. The drive includes a massive, FEM-modeled motor assembly as well as a water-resistant cone made of cotton fiber pressed paper with a special cone dust cap basket geometry. The linear excursion is 9 mm (one-sided), a stable metal grille protects the driver, and rounded corners serve as reinforcement. The dimensions are 470 mm in length, 334 mm in width, and 109 mm in height. Designed for use with AP8.9 bit (2 CH bridged) or AP4.9 bit/AP4 D (2 CH bridged).

Frequently Asked Questions about Prima APBX 8 R

What features does the Enclosed Subwoofer Prima APBX 8 R from Audison have?

The Prima APBX 8 R from Audison is an enclosed subwoofer with an 8-inch (20 cm) bass reflex design. This subwoofer is known for its 500 W peak power and 4-ohm voice coil, which together utilize the pressure chamber effect below 60 Hz ideally. It offers precise bass reproduction and exceptional efficiency in the car. The enclosure is ultra-flat, measuring 470 mm in length, 334 mm in width, and 109 mm in height. An innovative slot-porting design is present to maximize the ASPX 8 R driver. Rounded corners improve positioning in the trunk and reduce resonance-related issues.

How does the reflex enclosure of the Prima APBX 8 R affect audio playback?

The reflex enclosure of the Prima APBX 8 R from Audison plays a critical role in audio playback. The optimally tuned slot-porting design fully utilizes the subwoofer driver, revolutionizing bass reproduction. Particularly impressive is how the enclosure exploits the pressure chamber effect to enhance the frequency response below 60 Hz. The enclosure not only prevents unwanted resonances but also ensures consistent and uniform displacement across the entire audio frequency spectrum. This results in a richer and more impressive sound quality.

What materials are used in the Prima APBX 8 R subwoofer?

The Prima APBX 8 R from Audison uses high-quality materials that enhance the performance and durability of the subwoofer. The cone is made of water-resistant, pressed paper with cotton fibers, equipped with a specially designed profile optimized through Klippel scan vibrometer. The magnet is made of high-density flux ferrite, providing stable performance. The massive driver motor assembly is optimized with FEM modeling to ensure maximum control at high displacements. All these material choices contribute to a robust and durable construction.

What installation tips are there for the Prima APBX 8 R?

The installation of the Prima APBX 8 R from Audison requires some specific considerations to achieve optimal performance. For flexible mounting, the 2S² design offers various options: Down-Firing for frequency enhancement or Up-Firing for more punch. The ultra-flat enclosure with rounded corners allows it to be easily placed in the trunk. With the integrated leveling feet and Velcro straps, the Subwoofer can be securely mounted yet remains removable. The SSP (Sub Smart Plug) ensures easy impedance configuration with traditional push contacts or the plug-and-play terminal block.

What amplifier compatibility does the Prima APBX 8 R offer?

The Prima APBX 8 R from Audison has been specifically designed to work seamlessly with the AP8.9 bit, AP4.9 bit, or AP4 D amplifiers. These amplifiers provide bridged channels that deliver up to 260 watts RMS power, ensuring powerful bass reproduction. The integration of these amplifiers allows you to fully utilize the BassBoost function as well as the integrated parametric equalizer of the DSP. In combination with these amplifiers, you not only get increased power but also improved sound characteristics that further optimize the already excellent bass performance of the Subwoofer.

How can the Prima APBX 8 R be placed in the car?

The placement of the Prima APBX 8 R from Audison in the car is exceptionally flexible due to its ultra-flat design and rounded corners. With a length of 470 mm, a width of 334 mm, and a height of 109 mm, it fits easily into the trunk of many vehicles. The rounded corners not only facilitate quicker and easier positioning but also help significantly reduce enclosure resonances. Thus, the design offers not only acoustic advantages but also practical installation options that can adapt to different vehicle types.

Does the Prima APBX 8 R have a protective device?

Yes, the Prima APBX 8 R from Audison comes with a sturdy metal grille that comprehensively protects the Subwoofer driver.
