highlights
Superior sound through technology
The MK442Ts use a quarter-wave transmission line enclosure. This proven loudspeaker technology makes it possible to produce deep, articulate bass with smaller drivers and lower profile enclosures. Compared to a traditional ported enclosure, a transmission line is able to produce deeper bass without worrying about port resonance and turbulence. This means better bass, lower distortion and a smaller footprint.
Beauty more than superficial
The MK442Ts feature an attractive textured black vinyl finish that is striking at first glance. The cabinet offers a unique geometric design that provides an aesthetic not commonly found in this price range. The grill is removable and is made from a high quality black fabric that discreetly conceals the most attractive features of this design, the drivers.
Elegant 1.91cm silk dome tweeter
The 1.91cm tweeter offers superior off-axis response, helping to create a large, engaging soundstage. The low-mass diaphragm provides an exceptionally flat frequency response. This, together with the low-distortion neodymium motor system, ensures that high frequency content is reproduced as transparently as possible.
Impressive bass extension of a 10.2cm woofer
The MK442Ts use the same 4" treated paper cone woofer as the critically acclaimed MK402 and award-winning MK442 speakers. This 4" treated paper cone woofer features a 4-layer voice coil with 2.54cm diameter, which offers improved power handling and improved low frequency response. An extended pole piece creates a symmetrical magnetic field for lower distortion. The large rubber surround allows for high excursion, all of which equates to focused and precise mid frequencies and impressive bass extension in the lower range.
More than just a capacitor
The crossover included in the MK442T uses a 3kHz 2nd order low pass and a 3rd order high pass. The board is then attached to the back of the recessed connector cup, which features a pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts. The crossover has been designed and optimized to deliver the smoothest and flattest frequency response possible.
