ECP-M6-E2 by Emphaser Description
The ECP-M6-E2 from Emphaser is a 6.5" (16.5 cm) speaker set that delivers both precise and highly detailed sound. Equipped with the new M25TX tweeter, it impresses with an aluminum diaphragm and an impressive frequency range up to 40 kHz. The woofer in the set uses an innovative aluminum-paper sandwich cone and features a modern FlowMax basket. The carefully engineered crossovers allow flexible installation and ensure minimal signal loss. With a rated power handling of 120 W RMS and a sensitivity of 90 dB, the set delivers excellent sound quality at both low and high volume levels. Included are two tweeters, two woofer/midrange drivers, and four crossovers.
The woofer
For the high precision and natural sound of the ECP-M6 Edition 2, the new aluminum-paper compound diaphragm is responsible. It combines high damping and stiffness with the direct transient response known from rigid diaphragms for extremely detailed music reproduction. The diaphragm thickness has been chosen to provide the stability for powerful bass attacks and the necessary lightness for high-resolution, naturally sounding midrange. The durable butyl surround in M-design ensures that the ECP-M6 Edition 2 does not lose any of its precise reproduction even at high levels and thus large diaphragm excursions.
The clean, crisp bass foundation and the enormous level-handling capabilities are owed to the component speaker's powerful 100 x 15 mm strontium ferrite magnet, the high-duty 30 mm voice coil and the woofer's 6 mm thick, flat-milled pole plate. The carrier of the carefully selected components is the minimalist-designed EMPHASER FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket. The very open construction with its delicate struts gives the rearward-radiated sound maximum freedom and ensures a minimum of unwanted reflective surfaces that could affect the sound. Regardless of the delicate construction, the sophisticated basket design offers enormous stability. Another innovation is the EMPHASER screw terminal: although built very solidly, it has a very small footprint and, with a mechanically secure connection via solid hexagon screws and gold-plated contact surfaces, ensures reliable signal transmission.
The tweeter
The new ECP-M25TX tweeter with a 25 mm aluminum diaphragm delivers precise, highly detailed performance up to 40 kHz. The dome geometry provides a consistent dispersion pattern for excellent sound across a wide range of installation situations. In addition to the low weight of the diaphragm, surround and voice coil, it is above all the deliberate omission of ferrofluid that allows the tweeter to play very lively, spacious and without coloration. The protective grille, with its very large open area, offers high acoustic transparency and low reflective surfaces. The supplied mounting housing enables installation at two different dispersion angles for perfect adaptation to the vehicle’s acoustics.
The crossover
For increased installation convenience, the crossovers have been split into separate housings for the tweeter and the woofer. This allows easy mounting at the original installation location without the need to run new cables across the vehicle. The crossover components are of high quality to affect the music signal as little as possible. In particular, only air-core inductors, film capacitors and MOX resistors are used in the direct signal path. The two-stage tweeter level adjustment is carried out via a solid jumper.
