ECP-G6 by Emphaser Description

Emphaser ECP-G6 is a 6.5 inch (16.5 cm) Speaker Set with CRYSTALGRAIN compound membrane and FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket. The 25 mm textile dome Tweeter with neodymium magnet, protective grille with large opening area, and mounting housing for two radiation angles complement the construction. Strontium ferrite magnets, butyl rubber surrounds, dual-layer copper wire voice coils on aluminum carriers, Connex centering spiders with integrated lead wires, as well as the Emphaser screw terminal with gold-plated contact surfaces are integrated. The crossovers operate with separate branches, 12 dB woofer/12 dB tweeter filters, two-stage level adjustment, and use air coils, MKP capacitors, and MOX resistors; pre-assembled connection cables are included. Rated power handling is 120 Watts RMS, nominal impedance is 4 Ohm, sensitivity is 90 dB, and frequency response is 65 Hz – 22 kHz. Installation diameter is 145 mm and installation depth is 64 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions about ECP-G6

What distinguishes the CRYSTALGRAIN compound membrane of the ECP-G6?

The CRYSTALGRAIN compound membrane of the ECP-G6 from Emphaser combines the high stiffness and damping effect of paper with the dynamic response of quartz crystals. This structure allows for exceptional stability with powerful bass signals and fine precision in the midrange. The membrane thickness is optimally sized to ensure the best stability during both intense bass attacks and meticulous midrange reproduction. In addition to its sound precision, the membrane offers remarkable durability, even at high levels, making it the perfect choice for enthusiasts of intense music genres. The membrane significantly contributes to a balanced, powerful sound image.

How does the crossover affect the sound quality of the ECP-G6?

The crossover of the ECP-G6 is essential for authentic sound reproduction and phase alignment of the components. With 12 dB filtering for both tweeters and woofers, it ensures accurate separation of frequency ranges, leading to clearer sounds and better stage representation. The crossovers are carefully tuned to ensure a precise balance of voices and instruments. High-quality components such as air coils, MKP capacitors, and MOX resistors minimize signal losses. The two-way design of the crossovers allows for optimized installation without disturbing cable routing, making installation in the car easier.

What role does the 25 mm textile dome tweeter play in the ECP-G6?

The 25 mm textile dome tweeter of the ECP-G6 provides finely detailed sound reproduction. It uses a textile dome with neodymium magnets, offering a warm, natural sound color. The design of the tweeter deliberately avoids ferrofluids to enhance the liveliness and spatiality of the reproduction. The lightweight membrane, surround, and voice coil enable high efficiency. Thanks to the special membrane geometry, various installation situations in the vehicle can be acoustically optimally covered. The protective grille with a large opening area maximizes sound permeability and reduces unwanted reflections.

How does the Emphaser screw terminal work in the ECP-G6?

The Emphaser screw terminal of the ECP-G6 is compact but offers an extremely secure connection for speaker cables. Solid hexagon screws and gold-plated contact surfaces ensure excellent signal transmission and reduce transition resistances. This construction provides consistent and reliable audio performance. Additionally, the terminal's space requirement is minimal, making it easier to integrate into tight installation spaces. This design offers advantages, especially in vehicles with limited space. The use of such flow-optimized contact solutions increases the longevity and overall performance of the speaker system.

What are the technical specifications of the ECP-G6 regarding power and sensitivity?

The ECP-G6 Speaker Set from Emphaser has a nominal power handling of 120 Watts RMS at a nominal impedance of 4 Ohms, ensuring powerful yet precise reproduction. With a sensitivity of 90 dB at 1W/1m, the set is efficient and allows impressive volumes even with low power consumption. These technical specifications are crucial for a rich musical experience, especially in vehicles where space and power must be optimally utilized. The speakers are designed for a frequency response of 65 Hz to 22 kHz, covering both deep bass and clear highs.

How do strontium ferrite magnets affect the sound of the ECP-G6?

The strontium ferrite magnets in the ECP-G6 enhance the magnetic field to maximize the efficiency and power of the woofers. They are essential for the powerful bass foundation that the set provides and allow for high power handling. These magnets ensure stable diaphragm displacement even at full output, resulting in precise and punchy bass sound. Especially in applications with high volumes, the sound quality of the speaker remains stable and distortion-free. Their robust construction not only increases bass performance but also contributes to the overall longevity of the entire speaker system.

What are the special features of the woofer in the ECP-G6?

The woofer of the ECP-G6 features a CRYSTALGRAIN compound diaphragm that delivers powerful and precise bass. The butyl rubber surround and the dual-layer copper wire voice coil on a temperature-resistant aluminum frame ensure stability and durability. The combination of these features allows the woofer of the ECP-G6 to reproduce clear sound even at high levels. The Emphaser FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket additionally provides effective temperature management and optimized sound radiation. The connection points of the voice coil are carefully chosen to maintain consistent sound quality throughout its lifespan and minimize the effects of material fatigue.

For which installation dimensions is the ECP-G6 optimized?

The ECP-G6 is optimized for an installation diameter of 145 mm and an installation depth of 64 mm. These dimensions make it compatible with a variety of vehicle models and allow for smooth installation in vehicles with standardized speaker cutouts. Thanks to the included mounting housing, the tweeter can be installed at two different angles, providing additional flexibility for installation adjustments. These measurements ensure not only universal applicability but also that the component fits correctly, which is essential for achieving the best possible sound development within the vehicle acoustics.

How is the sensitivity of the ECP-G6 evaluated in relation to installation efficiency?

The sensitivity of the ECP-G6 is 90 dB at 1W/1m, which means that the Speaker Set achieves remarkable volume even with relatively low amplifier power. This makes the ECP-G6 ideal for setups where efficient use of available amplifier power is desired. With its high sensitivity, vehicles with standard sound systems can be acoustically enhanced without the need for major modifications or a change of amplifier. This efficiency not only saves energy but also allows for a convincing sound fullness in situations where more powerful amplifiers are undesirable due to space or cost reasons.

What design-specific advantages does the FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket offer?

The FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket of the ECP-G6 from Emphaser is specifically designed to present minimal surfaces to rear sound reflections while providing maximum stability. The open, delicate struts of the basket allow for unrestricted airflow and minimize acoustically disturbing resonances. This construction supports optimized temperature management, which is particularly important at high levels to maintain material strength and thus sound quality. Additionally, the aluminum basket is lightweight, contributing to the reduction of overall weight without sacrificing stability.
