Frequently Asked Questions about Roof antenna AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom

What are the dimensions of the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna from ACV?

The AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna from ACV has a base with the following dimensions: The length is 117 mm, the width is 76 mm, and the height is 62 mm. These dimensions facilitate installation on the vehicle roof, particularly in the rear area where it is intended. The technical precision in these measurements ensures that the antenna provides a secure fit while being aerodynamically efficient to minimize wind noise and additional drag.

How is the power supply ensured for the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna?

The power supply for the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna is provided via a 12 V external voltage for both AM/FM and DAB/DAB+. Additionally, both signals can also be supplied through a 12 V phantom power, allowing for flexible integration, for example, in vehicles that have such a power rail. The maximum current draw is 80 mA for AM/FM and 33 mA for DAB/DAB+. This makes the antenna energy-efficient, which is particularly important in vehicles to minimize battery load.

What connection options does the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna offer?

The AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna from ACV is equipped with specific connection cables. For AM/FM, a Fakra B(f) connector in white is used, with the cable having a length of 250 mm. For DAB/DAB+, the antenna uses a Fakra G(f) connector in gray with a cable length of 200 mm. These specified connections ensure a secure connection and excellent signal transmission, which is crucial in poor reception conditions. The 6.3 mm flat connector for the external power supply allows for seamless integration into the vehicle's electrical system.

What frequency ranges does the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna cover?

The AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna covers different frequency ranges to receive a wide spectrum of signals. The AM range extends from 150 kHz to 1710 kHz, while the FM range captures frequencies from 87.5 MHz to 108 MHz. For DAB/DAB+ reception, the antenna is tuned to frequencies from 174 MHz to 240 MHz. This comprehensive frequency coverage allows for the efficient reception of various radio services and provides flexibility for different media content transmitted over these frequencies.

What is the gain when using the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna?

The AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom antenna from ACV offers an antenna gain of 2 dBi specifically for DAB/DAB+. This gain improves reception by efficiently amplifying signals and making them more manageable. It is an important parameter as the gain helps to boost weaker signals and minimize interference, leading to more reliable audio transmission. This is particularly relevant in rural or mountainous areas where signals are often weaker and require additional amplification.

What compatibility does the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna offer in terms of dimensions?

The AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna is designed to fit a variety of vehicle models. The required drill holes are 19 mm for round holes and 15 mm x 15 mm for square holes. The tightening torque is 6.5 Nm ± 20%, ensuring secure installation. These parameters are universal enough to be compatible with many vehicle types. Before installation, it should always be checked whether the specific vehicle meets these requirements to ensure optimal attachment and functionality.

What impedance does the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna offer?

The impedance of the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna is 50 Ohms for both AM/FM and DAB/DAB+. This impedance is standardized and ensures optimal matching with most radio systems. Correct impedance is crucial for minimizing signal losses and achieving maximum power efficiency. This helps the antenna receive and transmit high-quality signals, which is why the appropriate impedance is a key quality feature for antenna operation.

What is the standing wave ratio (SWR) of the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna?

The standing wave ratio (SWR) of the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna is less than 3:1 for DAB/DAB+ reception. This ratio indicates that the antenna is well-tuned and works efficiently with the connected radio system. A lower SWR means less reflected power and thus more efficient signal transmission and reduced energy loss. An SWR value of under 3:1 is considered optimal for most applications and ensures that the antenna operates reliably in a variety of environments.

What noise figure does the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna offer?

The AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna has different noise figures depending on the frequency range: In the FM range, the noise figure is 3.5 dB, while for DAB/DAB+ it is 2 dB. These low noise figures are crucial for sound quality, as they minimize unwanted signal alterations and thus contribute to clearer reception. A low noise figure is essential for reproducing high-quality audio signals, which is particularly important when using digital radio services.

How is the polarization of the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna configured?

The polarization of the AM/FM DAB/DAB+ Shark II Phantom roof antenna is configured as linear-vertical for both FM and DAB/DAB+. This means that the electromagnetic waves are oriented vertically, making these polarization types preferable for receiving signals that have the same polarization types. Linear-vertical polarization is commonly used to ensure compatibility with most broadcasting stations. This is especially beneficial in situations where reception quality and signal stability need to be optimized.
