The  M6-880X is an 8" (20cm) marine coax from JL Audio. The M6-880X model surprises with unique features and special features. It impresses with excellent quality, state-of-the-art technology and a distinctive design. With a diameter of 8.8 inches, this model offers significant performance advantages over 6.5 inch designs. Thanks to a larger membrane area and almost twice the excursion capability, the M6-880X is able to produce more low frequencies and also offers excellent sound quality at high frequencies. • The same principle that makes our 7.7-inch marine speakers dominate over traditional 6.5-inch designs is delivered in a stronger dose in our M6-880X 8.8-inch coaxial speakers.
• These 8.8" diameter monsters offer significant performance advantages over our 7.7" models and a huge advantage over traditional 6.5" marine coax. Thanks to 36% more cone area and almost twice the excursion capability, the M6-880X are capable of producing +6dB more low frequency than our M6-770X 7.7" coax systems! The bass is so impressive that the M6-880X can be used without a subwoofer and still pack a very serious low frequency punch. When paired with a subwoofer, they offer far better dynamics and bass impact than smaller speakers, making them the best choice when ultimate performance is desired.
• To ensure the high frequencies sound just as good as the bass, our engineers designed an oversized 1.25" silk dome tweeter for this model. This new tweeter plays louder, cleaner, and extends lower in frequency to better match the 8.8" woofer. Hidden within the woofer enclosure is a true passive 2-way multi-order crossover that is protected from vibration and corrosion. Also included is an automatic tweeter protection circuit to minimize the possibility of tweeter failure.
• Although M6-880X coaxial systems can be used with as little as 50 W per channel, we recommend amplifiers with a continuous power output between 50 and 250 W per channel for optimal audio performance.
