ESX Power 4 Datasheet

Frequently Asked Questions about Power 4

What are the technical specifications of the Power 4 Amplifier from ESX?

The Power 4 from ESX delivers a power of 460 Watts RMS at 4 Ω and 475 Watts RMS at 2 Ω. This is achieved through Class D technology, which operates efficiently and offers an efficiency of up to 84%. Notably, it features a low-pass range of 40-120 Hz with a slope of 12 dB, as well as an adjustable bass boost of 0 to 6 dB at 45 Hz, allowing for customization to personal preferences.

What protection features does the Power 4 Amplifier offer?

The amplifier comes with a 3-fold limiter function, which particularly protects smaller Subwoofers from overload. This protective measure is essential for the integrity of the audio system, as it prevents the device from being damaged in critical operating situations. Another feature is the clipping LED, which provides visual cues for overloads and can be useful during calibration and adjustment of the system to ensure optimal sound without distortion.

How can the Power 4 Amplifier be integrated into a vehicle?

The Power 4 can be flexibly integrated into modern car audio systems thanks to EPS PRO technology. This technology simulates different input resistances, allowing for seamless adaptation to existing systems. The simple installation is done via quick connect terminals, ensuring a fast and hassle-free connection. Additionally, the input sensitivity is variable and can be set between 15 and 40 volts to improve compatibility with various signal sources.

What advantages does Class D technology offer in the Power 4 Amplifier?

The Class D technology of the Power 4 amplifies the signal efficiently with up to 84% efficiency, resulting in low power consumption and allowing for smaller cable cross-sections. This is particularly advantageous in modern vehicles, as the power supply is utilized optimally. The high efficiency generates less heat, which increases the longevity of the amplifier and contributes to more stable operation under high load. Thus, Class D technology is ideal for power-intensive applications with limited space and power capacities.

How does the automatic power-on function work in the Power 4?

The Power 4 features an automatic power-on function that can be triggered by either a DC signal or an audio signal. This facilitates use in the vehicle, as the amplifier autonomously activates as soon as the radio is turned on. This function is particularly suitable for start-stop systems and ensures that the amplifier is active again within five seconds and can operate at voltages up to 7 volts, supporting use in modern vehicles with start-stop technology.

What settings does the Power 4 offer for the bass level?

The Power 4 from ESX allows for the adjustment of the bass level, with a bass boost of 0 to 6 dB at 45 Hz. The desired amplification can be set via the bass level remote control, enabling fine-tuning of the sound. This feature is particularly useful for music lovers who value a strong low-frequency range and want to customize their sound without having to leave the vehicle.

How can the Power 4 be combined with common enclosure brands?

The Power 4 is compatible with passive enclosures from brands like ESX, Musway, and HiFonics. This integration is made possible by the advanced EPS PRO technology, which allows for seamless adaptation to various enclosure types. The amplifier fits into enclosures with pre-fabricated quick connect terminals, simplifying installation. This way, the amplifier can be optimally integrated with existing components to achieve the best possible performance and sound quality.

What are the dimensions of the Power 4 for installation in the vehicle?

The dimensions of the Power 4 are 113 x 130 x 125 mm, which represents a compact design and allows for installation in tight vehicle spaces. The required mounting opening measures 85 x 109 mm, enabling flexible installation in different configurations. These compact dimensions allow for integration into small trunk or seating area enclosures, where space is limited but powerful audio is desired.

What inputs does the Power 4 amplifier offer?

The amplifier is equipped with a RCA low-level input for connection to common audio sources. Additionally, it features a high-level input that allows for direct connection to the speaker outputs of modern car radios. This variety of input options ensures flexible integration of different audio sources. Furthermore, the EPS PRO technology allows for adjustment of the input sensitivity between 15 and 40 volts, ensuring fine-tuning of audio signals for optimal sound quality.

How does the Power 4 amplifier support passive enclosure integration?

The Power 4 amplifier can be seamlessly integrated with passive enclosures, as it was specifically designed for this purpose. The special modules are identical for Subwoofer variants with 4 Ω or 2 Ω, allowing for flexible adaptation to various requirements. Additionally, the EPS PRO technology ensures a realistic adjustment to different enclosures, which can significantly influence the final sound. This ability to effectively work with various enclosure shapes and volumes guarantees excellent audio performance.
