Frequently Asked Questions about Prima AP 6.5

What are the main specifications of the Audison Prima AP 6.5?

The Audison Prima AP 6.5 is a 165 mm mid-bass speaker with a peak power of 210 W and a continuous power handling of 70 W. It features a 32 mm voice coil made of pure copper and has an impedance of 4 Ohms. The frequency response ranges from 60 to 5,000 Hz, while the maximum excursion (Xmax) is 2.5 mm. With a specially calibrated mechanical low-pass cutoff frequency and an optimized diaphragm created with the Klippel R&D Scan Vibrometer, the speaker delivers optimal sound performance.

How does the 32 mm voice coil contribute to the performance of the Prima AP 6.5?

The 32 mm voice coil of the Prima AP 6.5 is made of pure copper, ensuring high thermal and electrical conductivity. This design allows for high loads without overheating, resulting in stable and consistent sound reproduction. Additionally, it provides excellent control of low frequencies and minimizes distortion, which is essential for music lovers. The design of the voice coil supports the compact and efficient layout of the speaker, allowing it to deliver maximum performance in various installation environments.

How does the triple-wave profile affect the excursion linearity of the Audison Prima AP 6.5?

The exclusive triple-wave profile of the surround of the Audison Prima AP 6.5 enables maximum excursion linearity by reducing stress peaks and resonances that can occur at high volumes. This structure ensures harmonious and distortion-free reproduction across the entire frequency range. The TPU surround (thermoplastic polyurethane) provides additional flexibility, allowing for better control of diaphragm movement at high power. This results in clear, brilliant reproduction of low frequency ranges, ensuring a high-quality listening experience.

What advantages does the Audison Prima AP 6.5 offer for installation in a car?

The Prima AP 6.5 offers flexible installation options due to its reduced installation depth, especially in OEM mounting locations. With dimensions of 165 mm in diameter and a depth of 60 mm, it can be easily positioned in vehicle doors or dashboards. The compact design and abrasion-resistant coating of the basket not only simplify installation but also protect against mechanical influences. Additionally, the high-current quick-connect terminals ensure a smooth and secure installation process, even in limited space conditions.

What frequency response characteristics does the Audison Prima AP 6.5 have?

The frequency response of the Audison Prima AP 6.5 ranges from 60 Hz to 5,000 Hz, allowing the model to accurately reproduce both low and mid frequencies. The optimized cone shape combined with the calibrated mechanical low-pass cutoff frequency enables the speaker to deliver clear bass and detailed mids. Furthermore, the Klippel-optimized diaphragm ensures consistent and high-quality sound across the entire frequency range, making the speaker well-suited for various music genres.

What sets the Audison Prima AP 6.5 apart in terms of sound quality?

The Audison Prima AP 6.5 combines several technical innovations for outstanding sound performance: The water-repellent treated paper cone diaphragm ensures reliable playback even under challenging conditions. The diaphragm, developed using FEM simulation technology and optimized with the Klippel R&D Scan Vibrometer, allows the speaker to reproduce fine musical details clearly. Additionally, the triple-wave TPU surround provides maximum excursion linearity, resulting in distortion-free sound output and an impressive peak power of 210 W, ideal for intense audio experiences.

Why is the 4-ohm impedance important for the Audison Prima AP 6.5?

The 4-ohm impedance of the Audison Prima AP 6.5 is crucial as it ensures a perfect balance between power amplification and efficiency. A low impedance often means that the speaker system draws more power, leading to higher volume without significant loss of sound quality. It also allows for compatible and efficient integration into existing car audio systems, making this mid-bass speaker an excellent choice for many car models. The impedance also determines how well the speaker works with various amplifiers.

How does the Klippel R&D Scan Vibrometer contribute to the performance of the Audison Prima AP 6.5?

The Klippel R&D Scan Vibrometer is used to calibrate the diaphragm of the Audison Prima AP 6.5 for optimal performance. This high-precision technology allows for the analysis of mechanical movements and vibrations of the speaker diaphragm, minimizing distortions through precise adjustments. This optimization technique results in a mechanically calibrated low-pass cutoff frequency, ensuring that the user perceives an authentic and clear sound image. The improvement is particularly noticeable at low frequencies, as the deepest tones can be reproduced with the highest precision.

What role does the water-repellent treated paper cone play in the Audison Prima AP 6.5?

The water-repellent treated paper cone in the Audison Prima AP 6.5 ensures increased durability and resistance to various environmental influences. This feature not only protects against moisture and potential damage from water exposure but also guarantees consistently high sound performance even in humid conditions. The combination of this water-repellent property and FEM simulation technology enables an optimized diaphragm structure that produces clear and distortion-free sound waves, ideal for use in vehicles exposed to changing weather conditions.

What electro-acoustic properties enhance the playback quality of the Audison Prima AP 6.5?

The Audison Prima AP 6.5 integrates a range of electro-acoustic parameters that optimize its playback quality. With a Qts of 0.7 and a Qms of 4.7, it offers an impressive compromise between low-resonance performance and sensitivity. The Mms of 12 g and the Cms of 0.31 mm/N support the precise movement of the diaphragm, ensuring uncolored, detailed lows and mids. The high sound pressure level (SPL) of 93.5 dB ensures that detailed playback is possible even at reduced amplifier power, while the Le of 0.23 mH promotes a more stable frequency response.
