Frequently Asked Questions about ASA Mercedes Audio Gateway MOST>Cinch 01

How is the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 installed?

The ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 is installed via loose cable connections. The yellow wire connects to the +12V constant power source (terminal 30), while the black wire is connected to ground (terminal 31). The RCA connectors, red and white, connect to the front pre-amplifier output of the aftermarket radio. It is important to note that the OEM sound system must be connected to the MOST25. Vehicles that do not have a MOST ring are not compatible. Before final assembly, you should check functionality to ensure that all components are working correctly.

Which Mercedes models is the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 compatible with?

The ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 is compatible with certain Mercedes models such as the Mercedes CL-Class (C215) from 02/2004 to 08/2006, the Mercedes CLS (C219) from 10/2004 to 06/2008, the Mercedes E-Class (S211/W211) from 03/2002 to 02/2008, and the Mercedes S-Class (W220) from 02/2004 to 09/2005. The SLK-Class (R171) models from 03/2004 to 03/2008 are also compatible. A prerequisite is that these vehicles are equipped with a MOST25 sound system and a corresponding audiogateway. Vehicles without Comand 2.0 or 2.5 navigation or D2B optical bus system are not suitable.

What functions are lost when using the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01?

When using the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01, some functions that are present in the original system may be disabled. These may include the fader function as well as certain sound and subwoofer settings. These limitations are due to the adaptation of the system to allow for the retrofitting of compatible devices. Such changes may vary depending on the vehicle model configuration. It is important to ensure that a check is performed before final assembly to guarantee full compatibility and the desired functionality. Ensure that no OEM components like CD changers interfere with the MOST ring.

What connection options does the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 offer?

The ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 offers connection options that enable a seamless transition between OEM systems and aftermarket radios. This includes the use of a loose MOST(m) connection for integration into the vehicle's own Audiogateway and the use of RCA connectors. Signal transmission occurs via red/white RCA(m) connections, which are connected to the front pre-amplifier output of the aftermarket radio. This setup allows for optimal signal transmission while retaining the OEM amplifier and speakers. The optional adjustment via the optical fiber connector is also available.

How should I test the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 before a permanent installation?

Before a permanent installation of the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01, it is advisable to conduct a functionality check. This includes testing all connections to ensure that both the electrical connection to the +12V constant power source and the ground are correct. Furthermore, the correct integration into the MOST25 system should be verified to ensure that signal exchange functions properly. A successful connection with the aftermarket radio via the RCA outputs confirms the basic readiness of this adapter. If there are defects, interfering OEM components must be removed.

What other devices does the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 require in the operational context?

In the operational context, the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 requires connection to a compatible aftermarket radio that has front pre-amplifier outputs. Additionally, vehicles with an OEM sound system that uses a MOST25 system are necessary. If the MOST ring is affected by OEM additional components such as CD changers or TV tuners, these must be removed from the ring. Optionally, optical fiber connectors or optical fiber loops can be integrated to optimize and stabilize signal transmission in the existing system to ensure reliable functionality.

What is the difference between the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 and classic Audiogateways?

The ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 is characterized by its specific compatibility with various Mercedes models that have integrated a MOST25 system. Compared to conventional audiogateways that may be more universally applicable, this model offers a specialization that leverages the advantages of the MOST system to ensure smooth audio signal exchange. This signal conversion allows the use of aftermarket radios without compromising the OEM speakers or amplifiers; however, it does not support traditional functions such as fader or specific sound adjustments.

Which optical fiber components are compatible with the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01?

The ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 is compatible with optical fiber components used for interconnection within the MOST ring. This includes the optical fiber connector and the optical fiber loop, available under item numbers 771000-2100 and 771000-2101, respectively. These components are used to ensure signal flow in the vehicle and to correctly implement the integration of aftermarket radios. They allow the MOST ring to remain operational even when other OEM components have been removed, for example, to minimize system defects.

Why is the use of a MOST25 system required for the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01?

The use of the MOST25 system is required for the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 because this protocol controls the transmission of audio, video, and other data packets within the vehicle. The adapter integrates aftermarket radios into existing OEM systems without loss of signal quality. The MOST25 system acts as a backbone that enables high data rates and synchronous signal distribution, which are necessary for high-quality audio applications. Vehicles without a MOST25 system cannot utilize the full range of functions of the audiogateway and are therefore not suitable.

What power supply is required for the ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01?

The ASA Mercedes Audiogateway MOST>Cinch 01 requires a power supply via the +12V constant power terminal, which is realized through the yellow wire. This voltage continuously supplies the device with the necessary energy for proper operation. Additionally, a connection to the vehicle ground at terminal 31 via a black cable is required. This power supply ensures that the signal converters are continuously powered, allowing seamless audio transmission between the radio and the OEM system, thereby permanently ensuring the practicality and flawless operability of the system.
