Discover the 4100SE, a high-end 4-channel amplifier from ARC Audio. Developed by Robert Zeff, this amplifier features special Hard Bias Class A/B technology for superior sound performance and minimal distortion. It features unique thermal management and offers high-quality amplification performance at any temperature. With hand-selected Sanken power transistors and a tightly regulated, microprocessor-controlled power supply, the 4100SE offers an impressive combination of innovation and high performance. Another highlight is the illuminated ARC logo, which appears in 256 individually selectable colors. Enhance your listening experience with ARC Audio technology and reliability.

Signature Edition HighEnd ClassA/B amplifier developed by Robert Zeff
The Signature Edition is a hard bias Class A/B amplifier. A simple Class B amplifier uses 2 output transistors to provide the current that moves the speaker. The positive transistor pushes the woofer out and the negative one pulls it back. In this design only 1 transistor is working at a time. It is the transition between positive and negative that leads to the higher distortion that makes a Class B amplifier unacceptable for audio reproduction. In most cases, a bias circuit is added to a Class B amplifier, making it a Class A/B amplifier. The bias circuit improves distortion by slightly turning on the unused output device while current flows through the other device. The more bias you add, the less distortion there will be, but there is a side effect. Heat is generated because the two output transistors are turned on at the same time. The more bias you add, the better it sounds, but the more heat you add, the more heat changes the natural bias of the output devices.

The trick with the Signature Edition bias circuit is to manage the bias current at any temperature. By carefully adjusting the bias of each amplifier, one can keep the bias stable over the entire temperature range, allowing the engineer to "dial in" much more bias than with a conventional Class A/B amplifier. This is one of the key elements for the amazingly transparent sound of the Signature Editions.

The key to running so much preload is thermal management. The Signature Edition features a unique heatsink design that mounts a 4-inch fan in the center of the PCB to force cool air in a crossflow pattern over a massive, finned heatsink before being exhausted out the ends. This design minimizes the impact of installation location on the thermal performance of the amplifier. The same performance is achieved when mounted upside down, under or behind a seat, or under a Signature Edition dashboard.

To further improve dynamics and efficiency, the Signature Edition amplifier uses only rigidly regulated, fully isolated power supplies. The control not only improves the damping factor and overall control of an amplifier, but also eliminates any effects of voltage drops in the charging system.
