Frequently Asked Questions about M12

What input connections does the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier offer?

The Musway M12 DSP Amplifier features multiple input connections to integrate versatile audio sources. It offers six pairs of RCA low-level inputs with a voltage of 2 to 6 V RMS. Additionally, there are 12 pairs of high-level inputs available, which are particularly suitable for vehicles that already have a factory-installed system. These high-level inputs can handle 8 to 24 V RMS and are equipped with an Error Protection System (EPS) to prevent diagnostic errors. An additional RCA auxiliary input and an optical PCM input with 192 kHz and 24 Bit for high-resolution audio sources are also part of the equipment.

How many channels can the Musway M12 Amplifier control simultaneously?

The Musway M12 is a powerful DSP Amplifier that can supply 12 speakers simultaneously through its built-in power amplifiers. Furthermore, it features an integrated 16-channel DSP processor that can control an additional four channels to drive them via an external 4-Channel Amplifier. This configuration allows for the adjustment and fine-tuning of the sound system in a vehicle to a new level, enabling multiple speakers to be controlled independently. This offers excellent flexibility and expandability for car sound systems.

What type of audio streaming does the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier support?

With the optional BTS-HD dongle, the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier enables HD audio streaming with aptX codecs. The aptX codec ensures transmission with a bitrate of 576 kBits, a sampling rate of 48 kHz, and a 24-bit resolution. This allows HiFi enthusiasts to stream music with high detail and minimized latency. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who value outstanding sound quality when streaming from mobile devices or other Bluetooth-enabled devices. The dongle expands control options with an app that simplifies setup and configuration.

How is the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier controlled?

The control of the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier can be done either via dedicated PC software or a mobile app. The V3 DSP software and app provide a user-friendly interface for detailed adjustment of the DSP settings and for controlling the volume levels of the connected channels. With the optional digital remote control DRC1, which features an OLED display, various DSP functionalities can also be controlled directly from the vehicle. These remote control options offer flexibility in adjusting the sound profile, whether at home on the computer or on the go in the car.

What technical features does the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier have?

The Musway M12 DSP Amplifier impresses with 12 integrated channels and a 16-channel signal processor. Its digital amplifier technology is designed in Class D, achieving an output power of 85 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms and 120 watts RMS at 2 ohms. Bridged, it delivers 240 watts RMS per channel pair at 4 ohms. The signal-to-noise ratio is ≥95dB, the frequency response ranges from 15 Hz to 22 kHz at -3dB, and the total harmonic distortion is ≤0.05% at 1 kHz and 90% power. These features make it a perfect choice for demanding applications in the car Hi-Fi sector.

What are the dimensions of the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier?

The dimensions of the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier are 340 mm in width, 48 mm in height, and 171.5 mm in depth. This compact design facilitates installation in various vehicle models that provide sufficient space for such installations. Due to its slim design, this amplifier can be placed almost invisibly in areas of the vehicle that are not directly used for sound reproduction. When installing, you should ensure that there is enough airflow to ensure optimal heat dissipation and to guarantee the longevity of the device.

What is the advantage of the Burr-Brown converters in the Musway M12 Amplifier?

The Burr-Brown converters in the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier, specifically the PCM3168A, are known for their high precision in digital-to-analog conversion. These converters significantly contribute to sound performance by expanding the frequency response and minimizing distortion, which is of particular interest to HiFi enthusiasts. In combination with the DSP ADAU1452, this also allows for outstanding adjustment of audio signals in the M12 while maintaining all essential sound details. For sound lovers, this means a detailed music playback.

What expansion options does the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier offer?

The Musway M12 DSP Amplifier allows extensive expansion options through its four configurable RCA preamp outputs. These outputs can be used to drive external amplifiers that power additional speakers or Subwoofers, which means a significant expansion of a car's audio system. Additionally, the optical PCM input ensures compatibility with high-quality digital audio sources, while the ability to adjust the amplifier and DSP via software or app allows for flexible adjustments and upgrades. Thus, the M12 adapts flexibly to the needs of each user.

Is the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier compatible for operation in stop-start mode?

Yes, the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier is optimized for use in vehicles with stop-start technology. It includes an automatic power-on feature that ensures the amplifier continues to operate reliably and without delay even after a restart of the engine. This feature is particularly important in modern vehicles where the engine is frequently turned off and on to save fuel. The Error Protection System (EPS) also ensures that no disturbances or errors occur in the vehicle's diagnostic process when the amplifier is in operation.

What power does the Musway M12 DSP Amplifier provide in bridged mode?

The Musway M12 DSP Amplifier achieves an impressive output power of 240 Watts RMS per channel pair at 4 Ohms in bridged mode. This power is ideal for demanding applications where strong and clear sound reproduction is desired, especially in larger vehicles or those that require more intense sound coverage. The Class-D amplifier technology ensures high efficiency and minimizes heat generation, reducing the load on the vehicle system and ensuring excellent sound quality. This power range allows for a variety of high-performance speaker configurations.
