The ECP-G5 from Emphaser is a 5-inch speaker set that impresses with its precise sound reproduction and versatile applications. The woofer uses the innovative CRYSTALGRAIN compound diaphragm for warm sound reproduction, combined with a strontium ferrite magnet for powerful bass attacks. The tweeter with a 25 mm fabric dome ensures detailed music playback and can be mounted flexibly. The set includes high-quality crossovers that allow for easy installation. With a nominal power handling of 80 watts RMS and a frequency response of 85 Hz – 22 kHz, the ECP-G5 is a versatile addition to any sound system.

The Woofer

The warmth of the GRAVITY sound is thanks to the new CRYSTALGRAIN compound diaphragm. It combines the high stiffness and damping effect of paper with the direct transient response of the quartz crystals applied on the top side. The diaphragm thickness is chosen to provide stability for powerful bass attacks and the necessary lightness for precise midrange. The durable surround ensures that the ECP-G5 does not lose any of its precise reproduction even at high levels and thus high diaphragm excursions. The clean, crisp bass foundation and its level capabilities are owed to the strong strontium ferrite magnets of the mid/woofer.

The carefully selected components are housed in the minimally designed Emphaser FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket. The very open construction with delicate struts gives the rear-radiated sound maximum freedom and minimizes unwanted reflective surfaces that could affect the sound. Despite its delicate design, the construction offers maximum stability. Another innovation is the new Emphaser screw terminal: although very robust, it requires very little space and ensures secure signal transmission with its solid connection using massive hexagon screws and gold-plated contact surfaces.

The Tweeter

The 25 mm fabric dome tweeter impresses with its warm sound and can reproduce even the smallest musical details. The diaphragm geometry offers a uniform directivity pattern for excellent sound in various installation situations. Besides the low weight of diaphragm, surround, and voice coil, it is especially the deliberate omission of ferrofluid that allows the tweeter to play so lively, spatially, and distortion-free. The protective grille offers high sound permeability and low reflections due to its very large opening area. The included mounting housing allows installation at two different radiation angles for perfect adaptation to the vehicle acoustics.

The Crossover

The components of the crossovers have been defined through intensive test series in the lab and in various vehicles to achieve the best possible phase alignment of the components with minimal space requirements. The result is authentic-sounding voices and instruments with precise stage imaging and impressive spatial depth. The crossovers are divided into a tweeter and woofer branch. This allows easy installation directly at the mounting location without the need to lay new cables across the vehicle.

How does the crossover work in the Emphaser ECP-G5 Speaker Set?

The crossovers of the Emphaser ECP-G5 Speaker Set are precisely designed for the ideal phase alignment of the components. They use high-quality air coils, MKP capacitors, and MOX resistors in the direct signal path to achieve optimal sound separation between the tweeters and woofers. With a 12 dB filter for both woofers and tweeters and a two-stage level adjustment for the tweeter, they offer maximum flexibility and sound quality. The separate crossovers for tweeters and woofers allow for easy and flexible installation in the vehicle without additional wiring in the interior.

How does the strontium ferrite magnet of the woofer affect performance?

The strontium ferrite magnet of the woofer in the Emphaser ECP-G5 is crucial for powerful bass reproduction. This type of magnet offers a high magnetic flux density, which increases the sensitivity of the speaker, enabling a more dynamic and precise sound. This property is particularly important for reproducing low frequencies, as it ensures better control of the membrane movement. Additionally, the magnet contributes to the robustness of the sound at high volumes without losing clarity. The combination of magnet and membrane is therefore ideal for rich bass reproduction.

What role does the aluminum die-cast basket play in the ECP-G5?

The FlowMax aluminum die-cast basket of the Emphaser ECP-G5 features an exceptionally open design, minimizing unwanted reflections.
