Description

The PN395-8 from Dayton Audio is a powerful 15" (38 cm) bass-midrange driver designed for high efficiency and low distortion. With its optimized neodymium motor, it offers remarkable magnetic efficiency and comes with a robust cast aluminum frame construction. The speaker supports RMS power up to 800 watts and peak power up to 1,600 watts, ideal for demanding sound environments. Outstanding features include a paper and fiberglass reinforced cone for natural response and a vented 102 mm voice coil for improved heat dissipation. The heat-resistant construction ensures reliable operation even under high loads.

The PN395-8 from Dayton Audio is a 15" (38 cm) bass-midrange driver designed for high performance and efficiency. With an optimized neodymium motor, it offers low distortion and high efficiency. The robust cast aluminum frame and reinforced mounting flange guarantee stability and durability, while the paper cone with fiberglass reinforcement ensures a natural response. The speaker supports power outputs of up to 800 watts RMS and 1,600 watts peak power and impresses with its heat-resistant construction. Other features include a 102 mm voice coil with ventilation for improved heat dissipation and integrated cooling to ensure reliable operation even in demanding professional sound environments.

Lightweight but powerful motor assembly

The lightweight but powerful neodymium motor assembly of the PN395-8 has been optimized using FEA to provide a combination of low distortion and high efficiency. The large neodymium magnet mounted in the voice coil concentrates almost all of the magnetic force in the magnet gap, providing up to 40% better utilization than conventional motor designs. The extended pole piece contains a large copper cap which helps to reduce distortion and linearize inductance.

Robust construction and suspension

To stand up to the use and abuse of professional sound environments, Dayton Audio has made sure the PN395-8 can take a beating. The cast aluminum frame uses 6 wide spokes to firmly support the motor assembly, and the thick mounting flange is reinforced to create an incredibly solid mounting surface. The cone is made of thick paper for a natural response, contains fiberglass reinforcement and features a ribbed design that provides additional structural support. The cone is supported by a heavy centering spider with integrated silver strands and a triple rolled fabric surround, both designed for high excursion applications, allowing the PN395-8 to handle short bursts of excessive power without damage.

High load capacity and low power compression

In addition to high efficiency, a lot of power is also required to achieve extreme sound pressure levels. The PN395-8 can handle up to 800 watts RMS and 1,600 watts peak power and is heat resistant. The 4" voice coil uses a vented fiberglass former with an inner/outer winding configuration that doubles the exposed surface area of the coils for better heat dissipation. The motor assembly includes a large pole opening along 8 large peripheral openings in the voice coil gap to provide fresh air to the coil and keep the temperature to a minimum. Finally, the frame features ventilation behind the centering spider with integrated heat sinks to dissipate as much heat as possible from the sensitive motor and voice coil.
