The passive Morel Hybrid 63 3-way 6.5 inch (16.5cm) speaker system gets its name from the ferrite and neodymium magnets that drive the damped 6.5 inch polymer woofer. The woofer benefits greatly from its robust one-piece dust cap and cone structure, and Morel uses the new Hexatech aluminum voice coil technology for better heat dissipation and efficient performance.

The component speakers of the Hybrid series from Morel are known for their reliability and distinctive sound. The MT300 soft dome tweeter, coated with an Acuflex™ compound for maximum damping, contributes to the definition of this speaker system with its warm highs. The system's external MXR crossovers ensure the ideal blend of highs and lows for an incredible stereo image. In addition, the tweeter can be adjusted in two stages, allowing you to tailor the sound to your vehicle's environment. The CDM700 dome midrange completes the system, providing incredibly smooth transitions from lows to highs.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hybrid 63

What are the main technical features of the Morel Hybrid 63 speaker system?

The Morel Hybrid 63 is a 3-way component speaker system that includes two Tweeters, a midrange driver, and a woofer, as well as crossovers. The 6.5-inch woofer is made from a single-piece damped polymer cone (DPC). The midrange and Tweeters are made from silk domes, with the MT300 Tweeter coated in Acuflex. The crossovers offer two level settings for the Tweeter. The system supports 140 watts RMS and has an impedance of 600 watts peak power. Frequency response ranges from 35 to 25,000 Hz, and sensitivity is 91 dB at 2.83 V. Mounting depths are: woofer 6.2 cm, midrange 2.2 cm, Tweeter 1.3 cm.

What advantages does the Hexatech aluminum voice coil technology in the Morel Hybrid 63 offer?

The Hexatech aluminum voice coil technology of the Morel Hybrid 63 provides excellent heat dissipation and more efficient performance. By using Hexatech aluminum, the heat generated at high sound pressure is distributed more quickly and evenly, leading to improved durability and reliability. The voice coils are precisely manufactured to ensure optimal control and definition in the sound image, which is particularly beneficial at high volumes. This technology allows for full utilization of the speakers' potential and ensures a high RMS load capacity of 140 watts without compromising quality.

How do the Acuflex-coated Tweeters of the Morel Hybrid 63 affect sound quality?

The MT300 Tweeters of the Morel Hybrid 63 are coated with Acuflex, resulting in high damping and a balanced, smooth sound. Acuflex reduces unwanted resonances and provides more clarity and definition in the highs. It offers precise high-frequency reproduction, which is essential for playing any genre of music. This coating technique leads to a noticeably livelier sound characteristic and a clear yet warm tone, which is particularly appealing to audiophile users. The listening experience is enhanced by the clear reproduction of fine details and high-frequency ranges.

How do the external MXR crossovers improve the listening experience of the Morel Hybrid 63?

The external MXR crossovers of the Morel Hybrid 63 optimize the sound balance between the various speaker components. They ensure a seamless interplay of bass, midrange, and treble by precisely splitting and controlling the frequencies. Two level settings for the Tweeters allow for individual adjustments to the listening environment and personal sound preferences. The crossovers ensure that the sound transitions are smooth and without breaks, resulting in a particularly clear and defined sound image. This is especially important in complex musical pieces where different frequency ranges must be present simultaneously.

What cabinet design is used for the Tweeters of the Morel Hybrid 63 and what impact does it have?

The Tweeters of the Morel Hybrid 63 are housed in special cabinet options, including flush mount enclosures and surface mount enclosures. These types of cabinets offer flexibility in installation and adaptation to various vehicle interiors. The flush mount allows for discreet integration, while the surface mount allows for better alignment with the listening area. Both cabinet variants provide optimized sound radiation, creating a more balanced listening field. The different mounting options allow the sound to be precisely tailored to the acoustic conditions of the vehicle, significantly improving sound quality.

What is the frequency response of the Morel Hybrid 63 and what does it mean for sound reproduction?

The frequency response of the Morel Hybrid 63 ranges from 35 Hz to 25,000 Hz, covering a very wide sound spectrum. This means that the speaker system is capable of reproducing both deep bass and high treble clearly. Such a frequency range is crucial for the reproduction of complex musical pieces, as it captures the full range of acoustic signals. The listener therefore experiences a realistic and dynamic reproduction, which is particularly significant in classical and electronic music. This bandwidth also contributes to the speaker's ability to convey unexpected musical nuances.

How does the Morel Hybrid 63 component speaker system fit into typical vehicles and what dimensions are relevant?

The compatibility of the Morel Hybrid 63 with vehicles mainly depends on the installation dimensions. The woofer has a diameter of 14.1 cm and a mounting depth of 6.2 cm. The midrange requires 2.2 cm, while the Tweeter is at 1.3 cm. These dimensions are crucial to determine whether the speakers fit into the designated installation areas of the vehicle. Due to the compact design, the system can be installed in many common vehicle models, but the available space should always be checked in advance. The included installation kit also facilitates adaptation to various mounting environments.

What installation components are included with the Morel Hybrid 63?

The package of the Morel Hybrid 63 includes comprehensive installation components that facilitate mounting in the vehicle. Included are two MW6mkII woofers, two CDM700 midranges, and two MT300 Tweeters, as well as two MXR300.4 crossovers. Additionally, brackets and mounting kits for the various speaker types, including flush and angled enclosures, are included. Grilles are installed for all speaker types to provide mechanical protection. Various sets of screws and clamps allow for secure fastening. Crimp-on quick connectors in different sizes and insulating covers ensure a reliable electrical connection and significantly ease the installation.

What RMS and peak power does the Morel Hybrid 63 support and why is this important?

The Morel Hybrid 63 offers an RMS power of up to 140 watts and a peak power of 600 watts. These power ratings are crucial for speaker performance, especially at higher volumes. The RMS power reflects the continuous load capacity, which ensures consistently high sound quality even during intense use. The peak power indicates how much power the speaker can handle in short bursts without damage. These parameters are particularly important for music lovers who enjoy loud music with prominent and clear highs and lows without experiencing sound distortion.

How does the sensitivity of 91 dB affect the performance of the Morel Hybrid 63 speaker system?

The sensitivity of 91 dB at 2.83 V of the Morel Hybrid 63 means that the speaker effectively produces sound at a given power level. A higher sensitivity rating means that less power is needed to achieve high volumes, allowing the system to operate efficiently. This is particularly advantageous in vehicle environments where the available amplifier power is limited. A speaker with this sensitivity typically provides detailed and dynamic playback at varying volumes and optimizes energy consumption, which is especially beneficial during long listening sessions.
