Superior sound through technology
The MK442Ts use a quarter-wave transmission line enclosure. This proven speaker technology makes it possible to produce deep, articulate bass with smaller drivers and lower profile enclosures. Compared to a conventional bass reflex enclosure, a transmission line is able to produce deeper bass without having to worry about port resonance and turbulence. This means better bass, less distortion and a smaller footprint.
Beauty more than superficial
The MK442Ts feature an attractive textured black vinyl finish that stands out at first glance. The cabinet offers a unique geometric design that provides an aesthetic that is not common in this price range. The grill is removable and is made from a high quality black fabric that discreetly conceals the most attractive features of this design, the drivers.
Elegant 1.91cm silk dome tweeter
The 1.91cm tweeter offers superior off-axis response, helping to create a large, engaging soundstage. The low mass cone provides an exceptionally flat frequency response. This, together with the low distortion neodymium motor system, ensures that high frequency content is reproduced as transparently as possible.
Impressive bass extension of a 10.2cm woofer
The MK442Ts use the same treated 10.2cm paper cone woofer as the critically acclaimed MK402 and award-winning MK442 speakers. This treated 10.2cm paper cone woofer features a 4-layer, 2.54cm diameter voice coil that provides improved power handling and low frequency response. An extended pole piece creates a symmetrical magnetic field for reduced distortion. The large rubber surround allows for high excursion, all of which equates to focused and accurate midrange frequencies and impressive low-end bass extension.
More than just a capacitor
The crossover included in the MK442T uses a 3 kHz 2nd order low pass and a 3rd order high pass. The circuit board is then attached to the rear of the recessed connection cup, which has a pair of gold-plated 5-way terminals. The crossover has been designed and optimized to deliver the smoothest and flattest possible frequency response.
