Frequently Asked Questions about ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch

What is the purpose of the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch?

The ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch from ACV is an active system adapter that allows aftermarket radios to connect with existing OEM sound systems in Mercedes and Porsche vehicles. The adapter adjusts the output signals of the new signal source to the signal input of the OEM amplifier. This maintains the existing sound system, including the original amplifier and speakers. Such adapters are particularly useful when you want to take advantage of modern car radios without losing the original sound characteristics of the vehicle. The connection is made via standardized RCA connectors.

Which vehicles are compatible with the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch?

The ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch adapter is specifically tailored for vehicles from Mercedes and Porsche. For Mercedes models, vehicles such as the A-Class (W169, C169), B-Class (T245), C-Class (W203), as well as GL-, M-, and R-Class are compatible. For Porsche, models like the 911 (996, 997, 991), Boxster (987), Cayenne (9PA/955, 92A/958), Cayman (987C), Macan (95B), and Panamera (970) are suitable. It is important that the vehicles have the corresponding OEM sound systems and interfaces to correctly integrate the adapter.

How is the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch connected?

The connection of the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch adapter is made via RCA cables and loose wire connections to the vehicle. The RCA connectors are marked in red and white to facilitate the correct connection. Power connections are color-coded: yellow for +12V constant power (terminal 30), black for ground (terminal 31), and red for switched ignition power (terminal 15). Due to the complexity of the MOST ring system, CD changers, TV tuners, or telephone modules integrated into the MOST ring should be removed to avoid compatibility issues.

What limitations are there when using the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch?

When using the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch, the fader function cannot be supported. Additionally, auxiliary components such as CD changers, TV tuners, or telephone modules must be removed from the MOST ring to ensure proper functioning of the adapter. Vehicles without Comand 2.0 / 2.5 OEM navigation or those that do not have a D2B optical bus system are not compatible. Certain models of the SL-Class and other Porsche vehicles without a YAZAKI optical bus system are also excluded.

How is the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch integrated into the vehicle?

The integration of the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch is technically demanding and requires precise knowledge of the existing OEM system. A functionality test is essential before final assembly. The adapter is integrated into the MOST ring via a fiber optic connector. A fiber optic loop can help ensure the correct signal flow. It is important to consider the correct physical dimensions and the location of the connections to ensure seamless integration without interference.

What technical features does the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch have?

The ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch from ACV is specifically designed for adapting modern car radios without compromising the functionalities of the existing OEM sound system. It includes an interface for the MOST25 bus, which is required for many Mercedes and Porsche models. The precise RCA connectors ensure clear signal transmission to the OEM amplifier. Additionally, the voltage and ground connections are optimized for stable power supply. Such features make it an indispensable part for upgrading the sound system in vehicles that use the MOST protocol.

Why is the removal of certain OEM components important when using the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch?

The removal of some OEM auxiliary components when using the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch is necessary to ensure the correct functioning of the adapter. Components such as CD changers, TV tuners, or telephone modules consume bandwidth in the MOST ring that is needed for audio transmission. Without removing these components, the adapter may not function properly or could impair the audio experience. The MOST ring must create a stable environment to optimally transmit the new signals to the OEM amplifier.

What role does the fader function play in the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch?

The fader function is not supported in the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch adapter. This means that the balance between the front and rear speakers cannot be adjusted via the radio. This is a limitation arising from the nature of the MOST bus system and the integration of aftermarket radios into existing OEM sound systems. Users who place a high value on finely tuning the volume distribution may perceive this as a noticeable disadvantage. However, the clear and powerful audio output remains intact.

What should be considered regarding the power supply of the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch?

There are some important details to consider regarding the power supply of the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch adapter. The yellow connector represents +12V constant power, provided by terminal 30. The black connector is responsible for ground (terminal 31), while the red connector represents the switched ignition power from terminal 15. Additionally, care should be taken to ensure that these connections are made correctly to ensure a stable power supply. Incorrect wiring could lead to malfunctions. A reliable power flow is essential for the optimal performance of the adapter.

Why is the ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch adapter suitable for modern car installations?

The ASA Mercedes/Porsche MOST>Cinch adapter is ideal for modern car installations because it bridges the gap between current radio technology and existing OEM sound architectures. It uses the MOST bus to seamlessly transmit signals between the aftermarket radio and the existing amplifiers. This not only preserves the original sound quality but also allows for the integration of newer features such as navigation and Bluetooth, as long as they are connected to the radio. Thus, it is particularly beneficial for vehicle owners who want modern radio features without losing the original audio settings.
