Signature Edition Amplificateur haut de gamme ClassA/B développé par Robert Zeff
Le Signature Edition est un amplificateur Hard Bias Class A/B. Un simple amplificateur de classe B utilise 2 transistors de sortie pour fournir le courant qui déplace le haut-parleur. Le transistor positif pousse le woofer vers l'extérieur et le transistor négatif le tire vers l'arrière. Dans cette conception, 1 seul transistor fonctionne à la fois. C'est la transition entre le positif et le négatif qui entraîne une distorsion plus importante, ce qui rend un amplificateur de classe B inacceptable pour la reproduction audio. Dans la plupart des cas, un circuit de polarisation est ajouté à un amplificateur de classe B, ce qui en fait un amplificateur de classe A/B. Le circuit de polarisation améliore la distorsion en activant légèrement le dispositif de sortie inutilisé pendant que le courant circule à travers l'autre dispositif. Plus vous ajoutez de tension de polarisation, plus la distorsion est faible, mais il y a un effet secondaire. De la chaleur est générée, car les deux transistors de sortie sont allumés en même temps. Plus vous ajoutez de tension de polarisation, meilleur est le son, mais plus vous créez de chaleur, plus la chaleur modifie la tension de polarisation naturelle des appareils de sortie.
L'astuce du circuit de polarisation Signature Edition consiste à gérer le courant de polarisation à n'importe quelle température. En ajustant soigneusement la tension de polarisation de chaque amplificateur, il est possible de maintenir une tension de polarisation stable sur toute la plage de températures, ce qui permet au technicien de "sélectionner" beaucoup plus de tension de polarisation qu'avec un amplificateur de classe A/B traditionnel. C'est l'un des éléments clés du son étonnamment transparent des Signature Editions.
La clé pour faire fonctionner autant de tension de polarisation est la gestion thermique. Les Signature Edition disposent d'un design unique de dissipateur thermique dans lequel un ventilateur de 4 pouces est monté au centre de la carte de circuit imprimé pour forcer l'air frais dans un schéma de flux croisé sur un dissipateur thermique massif à ailettes avant de l'évacuer aux extrémités. Cette conception minimise l'impact de l'emplacement d'installation sur les performances thermiques de l'amplificateur. Si l'amplificateur Signature Edition est monté à l'envers, sous ou derrière un siège ou sous un tableau de commande, les mêmes performances sont obtenues.
Pour améliorer encore la dynamique et l'efficacité, l'amplificateur Signature Edition utilise uniquement des alimentations à régulation rigide et entièrement isolées. Cette régulation améliore non seulement le facteur d'atténuation et le contrôle global d'un amplificateur, mais élimine également tout effet de chute de tension dans le système de charge.
