Frequently Asked Questions about Satori MW19TX / TeXtreme

What are the technical differences between the 4 Ohm and 8 Ohm versions of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX?

The SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX is available in two versions: 4 Ohm and 8 Ohm. The 4 Ohm variant has a nominal impedance of 4 Ω, a DC resistance of 3.4 Ω, and a voice coil inductance of 0.14 mH. The 8 Ohm version, on the other hand, has a nominal impedance of 8 Ω, a DC resistance of 6.0 Ω, and an inductance of 0.20 mH. Both models have an effective diaphragm area of 158 cm², but they differ in sensitivity and resonance frequency: 93 dB and 32 Hz for 4 Ohm, 90 dB and 33 Hz for 8 Ohm. Both support the same frequency range of 80Hz - 3.5kHz.

How does the TExtreme diaphragm affect the performance of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX?

The TExtreme diaphragm of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX significantly enhances performance. Its ultra-light yet extremely stable structure allows for highly precise vibrations, leading to accurate music reproduction. These properties also enable exceptional linearity in the frequency response. The use of a neodymium motor system supports the diaphragm by providing strong driving forces with low distortion. Together, this results in a speaker that is particularly suitable for demanding audio solutions, whether in a two-way system or as a woofer, due to these advanced material properties.

What role does ventilation play in the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX?

The thoughtful ventilation in the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX serves several important functions. The aerodynamic aluminum die-cast chassis, along with the ventilated pole piece and voice coil, optimize heat distribution and ensure efficient cooling of the speaker drive. This design reduces the risk of overheating under high power consumption. Additionally, the generously ventilated centering spider improves the rear compression behavior by minimizing air pressure behind the diaphragm. These features increase the lifespan of the speaker and contribute to enhanced reliability and consistently high performance.

How complicated is the installation of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX in a sound system?

The installation of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX requires precise work, but it is designed for easy integration into various sound systems. The speaker offers compatible dimensions to fit typical enclosure openings. The careful selection of the installation position is crucial to ensure optimal sound performance, with the installation of the 8-inch driver requiring a stable baffle. Integration into a 2-way system can accommodate frequencies from 80Hz to 3.5kHz, while the need for additional volume must be considered with a 53-liter Vas.

Why was a neodymium motor system chosen for the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX?

The neodymium motor system of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX was chosen for its excellent efficiency and fine performance characteristics. Neodymium magnets are more compact but have greater magnetic strength at the same volume, resulting in a higher magnetic flux density of 1.1 T. This allows for precise control of the 39 mm voice coil and optimizes performance with minimal distortion. Especially at high volumes, such a magnet significantly enhances the listening experience. Additionally, the neodymium motor system is a crucial component in supporting the lightweight yet powerful design of the speaker.

What is the function of the extendable copper sleeve in the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX?

The extendable copper sleeve in the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX minimizes the inductance variations of the voice coil during operation. By wrapping around the pole piece, it reduces nonlinear distortions, leading to a clearer sound image. This is a sophisticated technique for optimizing the magnetic flux, synchronizing the drive, and stabilizing the coil movement. This has direct effects on the force factor; in the 4 Ohm version, it is equivalent to 6.3 Tm, providing increased control and performance as well as overall improved acoustic properties.

What effects does the rubber surround have on the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX?

The soft rubber surround of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX is intentionally designed with low Damping to allow for uniform and rapid diaphragm movement. This feature contributes to better dynamics across the frequency range of 80Hz to 3.5kHz. The rubber surround also ensures reliable centering of the diaphragm, which is advantageous at high volumes as it reduces unnecessary distortion. The quality of the materials used also affects the speaker's durability by providing mechanical protection while optimizing sound performance.

What makes the lightweight CCAW voice coil in the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX special?

The CCAW voice coil (Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire) used in the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX combines the advantages of aluminum and copper into a lightweight yet powerful component. This voice coil weighs 16.2 g in the 4 Ohm version including air and 15.6 g in the 8 Ohm version, which reduces the overall mass of the drive. This leads to a faster response and more precise sound reproduction. The material is highly temperature resistant, optimizing coil operation and ensuring durability, especially at a higher rated load of 70 W.

How does the equivalent volume of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX affect performance?

The equivalent volume (Vas) of 53.2 liters in the 4 Ohm and 53.4 liters in the 8 Ohm version directly influences the enclosure design and acoustic performance of the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX. A higher Vas means that the driver is suitable for larger enclosures, allowing for deeper bass reproduction. Adjusting the enclosure volume to these parameters is crucial for balanced sound quality. In combination with the free-air resonance of 32 Hz and 33 Hz, the bass depth is tuned, providing significant advantages in acoustically demanding applications.

Can the SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX be combined with different car brands?

The SB Acoustics SATORI MW19TX is a universally applicable speaker, whose dimensions allow for flexible integration, although specific compatibilities with car brands are not explicitly stated. The 8-inch size fits into numerous standard speaker installation spaces in vehicles. For installation in cars, adjustments to the mounting opening and ensuring a stable installation may be necessary. Understanding the existing vehicle speaker configuration is helpful to ensure the best performance and integration without compromising sound quality.
