Frequently Asked Questions about ATOMO 2

What power does the ATOMO 2 Amplifier provide at 4 Ohms?

The ATOMO 2 from Gladen delivers an output power of 100 Watts RMS per channel at an impedance of 4 Ohms. When you bridge the channels, the amplifier reaches 220 Watts RMS. This power capability makes it ideal for use with various speaker systems. It is particularly suitable for users who expect impressive audio performance from a compact device. The Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is at 0.3%, promising excellent sound quality.

What are the dimensions of the ATOMO 2 Amplifier?

The ATOMO 2 has extremely compact dimensions of 86 x 65 x 34 mm. These small dimensions allow for installation in almost any vehicle environment, even when space is limited. Despite its small size, the amplifier offers remarkable performance. The lightweight 275 g of the device also makes installation easier, as the weight does not strain the vehicle's mounting points.

What input settings does the ATOMO 2 support?

The ATOMO 2 supports both low-level and high-level inputs. The low-level input has a sensitivity range of 0.4 Vrms to 5 Vrms and an input impedance of 15 kOhm. The high-level input, on the other hand, ranges from 1.6 Vrms to 20 Vrms with an input impedance of 21 Ohm. This flexibility makes it compatible with a variety of audio sources. Floating and fixed-ground options are also available to ensure that the amplifier works optimally with different audio setups.

How does the remote sensing work on the ATOMO 2?

The remote sensing of the ATOMO 2 is activated by a BTL source (Bridge Tied Load). This technology allows the amplifier to detect power-on as soon as a corresponding audio source sends a signal. The power-on automation only works with high-level inputs. The mute delay is three seconds after the device has been put into standby mode. This allows the amplifier to operate seamlessly without requiring manual switching.

What filters does the ATOMO 2 offer?

The ATOMO 2 offers both high-pass and low-pass filters that can be adjusted directly on the device. These filters have a slope of 12 dB/Oct and provide a crossover frequency at 80 Hz. This is advantageous for audiophiles who want to individually optimize their sound settings. Additionally, the amplifier features an onboard filter configuration that allows settings for OFF, HP, or LP, depending on the desired sound profile.

Is the ATOMO 2 Amplifier suitable for use in hybrid vehicles?

Yes, the ATOMO 2 is suitable for use in most hybrid and electric vehicles thanks to its compatibility with 12V and 24V systems as well as its sophisticated DC-DC converter topology. This compatibility makes it a flexible solution, as it harmonizes with both traditional combustion engines and newer technology vehicles. The unregulated push-pull topology ensures that energy consumption remains efficient, which is particularly important in vehicles with complex electronics.

What audio inputs does the ATOMO 2 use?

The ATOMO 2 uses high-quality Molex industrial standard inputs in the Micro-Fit configuration. These are called low/high-level inputs, which ensure that the audio connection remains constant and of high quality. The speaker output, on the other hand, is designed as a Mini-Fit. Such industrial standard connectors guarantee a long lifespan and minimal signal loss, contributing to excellent sound reproduction. Ideal for users who demand a high level of reliability and performance.

What electrical protection does the ATOMO 2 Amplifier have?

The ATOMO 2 is protected by a 15 A fuse, which safeguards the device from both short circuits and overloads. This protective feature is essential to ensure the longevity of the amplifier. Furthermore, the amplifier operates with a turn-on/turn-off voltage threshold of 9 V / 6 V to avoid unwanted switching on or off, which is particularly significant in the context of vehicle use.

What is the thermal shutdown limit of the ATOMO 2?

The thermal shutdown limit of the ATOMO 2 is set at 93 °C, with a tolerance of ± 5%. This feature protects the amplifier from overheating by automatically shutting down the device when the temperature is reached. This integrated safety measure is especially important during high power consumption or in environments with elevated temperatures. Particularly in automotive use, where high temperatures can be quickly reached, this protective function ensures reliable and safe operation.

How is the automatic turn-on of the ATOMO 2 activated?

The automatic turn-on of the ATOMO 2 is activated exclusively with high-level inputs. Once the device detects a sufficient signal from the audio source, it automatically turns on, allowing for easy operation without additional switches. A BTL source ensures the necessary remote detection. This function optimizes user-friendliness and ensures that the amplifier is ready for use as soon as the vehicle is started.
