ECP-M4 by Emphaser Description
The ECP-M4 4-inch speaker set from Emphaser offers detailed and low-distortion playback thanks to an aluminum diaphragm and durable butyl rubber surround in the midrange driver. The 25 mm tweeter impresses with a warm sound profile and reproduces even the smallest musical details. Two selectable crossover frequencies and a three-stage level adjustment of the crossovers allow for precise acoustic tuning depending on the installation situation. The set includes two tweeters, two midrange drivers, four crossovers, and two speaker grilles. With a rated power handling of 70 watts RMS and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, it covers a frequency range from 100 Hz to 22 kHz.
The Midrange Speaker
Our aluminum diaphragm for the woofer/midrange speaker is ideally suited for detailed and extremely low-distortion reproduction due to its hardness and high natural resonance frequency. The thickness of the diaphragm is chosen to provide the necessary stability and lightness for precise midrange performance. The durable surround ensures that the ECP-M4 maintains its precise reproduction even at high levels and thus higher diaphragm excursions. The clean, crisp sound and its level capabilities are thanks to the powerful strontium ferrite magnets of the midrange speaker. Details such as the aluminum die-cast basket with optimized temperature management, the butyl rubber surround, a copper cap on the pole core, a 2-layer copper wire voice coil on a heat-resistant aluminum voice coil former, and the durable Connex centering spider with woven-in voice coil lead underline the quality of these speakers.
The Tweeter
The 25 mm fabric dome tweeter impresses with its warm sound and can reproduce even the smallest musical details. The diaphragm geometry offers a uniform directional characteristic for excellent sound in various installation situations. Besides the low weight of the diaphragm, surround, and voice coil, the deliberate omission of ferrofluid is primarily responsible for the tweeter’s lively, spatial, and distortion-free performance.
The Crossover
For the ECP-M4 4-inch component system, two crossover frequencies are selectable for the tweeter to acoustically compensate for the spatial distance to the midrange speaker, which can be shorter or longer depending on the installation situation. The crossover components were defined through intensive test series in the lab and vehicle to achieve the best possible phase alignment of the components. The result is authentically sounding voices and instruments with precise stage imaging and impressive spatial depth.
