Frequently Asked Questions about MPS 5.950

How much power does the Morel MPS 5.950 deliver per channel?

The Morel MPS 5.950 is a 5-channel Amplifier that delivers up to 70 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohm. Additionally, it provides 350 Watts RMS for the Subwoofer channel. At 2 Ohm, the power increases to 100 Watts RMS per channel, while the Subwoofer channel outputs up to 550 Watts RMS. In bridged 3-channel mode, it delivers 2 channels with 200 Watts RMS each at 4 Ohm and one with 550 Watts RMS at 2 Ohm. These power specifications make the Amplifier extremely versatile, ensuring high adaptability to different configurations and speaker needs.

What filters are found in the Morel MPS 5.950?

The Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier features variable high-pass and low-pass filters on the front and rear channels, operating in the range of 40 to 400 Hz with a Damping of 12 dB/octave. The Subwoofer channel is equipped with a variable low-pass filter from 40 to 220 Hz, also with 12 dB/octave. These filters help optimize sound quality by targeting specific areas of the frequency spectrum, resulting in clearer and more focused audio playback. Additionally, the Subwoofer channel allows for variable bass boost (0–12 dB at 45 Hz), providing more intense low-frequency reproduction.

How do you connect high-level sources to the amplifier?

To connect high-level sources to the Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier, you need special adapters that convert the speaker signal to RCA connections. The line inputs of the amplifier can handle signals up to 20 volts, making it compatible with a variety of source devices. Additionally, these inputs can utilize automatic functions such as DC offset detection and signal-controlled power on to facilitate integration. This versatility is particularly useful if you want to use your vehicle's factory audio system without sacrificing the benefits of a powerful amplifier.

How do I improve bass performance with the Morel MPS 5.950?

The improvement of bass performance in the Morel MPS 5.950 is achieved through several parameters. On one hand, the subwoofer channel offers a variable bass boost of up to 12 dB at a frequency of 45 Hz, allowing you to fine-tune the bass according to personal preferences. Additionally, a switchable subsonic filter (off, 25, 35 Hz) helps control the lowest frequencies, thereby avoiding muddy bass reproduction. The high output of 550 watts RMS allows for the operation of even more demanding subwoofers, resulting in an even more intense bass experience.

What is included in the delivery of the Morel MPS 5.950?

The delivery of the Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier includes not only the actual 5-channel amplifier but also a user manual and various useful tools. These include four 5/8 inch screws for mounting, two M4x4mm replacement screws for the top plate, and various Allen keys (2mm, 2.5mm, and 4mm) for adjustment. However, note that wiring, fuses, and installation hardware are not included. Therefore, you should ensure that you obtain appropriate 25mm² power and ground cables as well as an 80-amp fuse to guarantee a safe installation.

What input options does the Morel MPS 5.950 offer?

The Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier offers both preamp and speaker inputs, allowing for a variety of configurations. The preamp inputs are suitable for low signal levels, while the speaker level inputs can be connected via adapters from conventional speaker cables to RCA. These inputs support high-level entries of up to 20 volts and feature automatic functions such as DC offset detection or signal-controlled power on. This versatility allows for easy integration into existing audio systems and provides flexible use, regardless of source requirements.

How is the Morel MPS 5.950 properly installed?

The proper installation of the Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier requires some preparatory measures. First, it is important to find a suitable location that considers the dimensions of 48.9cm x 5.7cm x 17.1cm. Next, you will need a minimum cross-section of 25mm² for the power and ground cables, as well as an 80-amp fuse. You should also pay attention to the installation height so that the removable chassis plate is easy to operate. Adjusting the level and filter controls is done by removing this plate, making the adjustment simple and straightforward.

What operating modes are available for the Morel MPS 5.950?

The Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier can be configured in various operating modes. By default, it operates in 5-channel mode, delivering 70 watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohm and powering the sub with 350 watts RMS. Alternatively, you can use the amplifier in 3-channel mode to drive two bridged channels with 200 watts RMS each at 4 Ohm, as well as 550 watts RMS for the sub-channel at 2 Ohm. These modes allow for adaptation to different speaker arrangements and personal preferences regarding sound distribution and power output.

What preparations are necessary for the safe use of the Morel MPS 5.950?

To use the Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier safely, setting up a suitable power supply is essential. This includes using power and ground cables with a minimum cross-section of 25mm² and an 80-amp fuse. These ensure a stable power supply and protect against overcurrent situations that could lead to damage. Additionally, the amplifier should be installed in a well-ventilated area to avoid overheating. These preparations ensure that the amplifier operates at its full potential while being used safely.

What type of distortion occurs with the Morel MPS 5.950?

The Morel MPS 5.950 Amplifier exhibits very low distortion, which is crucial for clean audio playback. The distortion values for the front and rear channels are only 0.05%, while the subwoofer channel is 0.15%. These low distortion levels ensure that the sound remains crystal clear and free from audible coloration, even at higher volumes. Especially if you enjoy listening to music loudly, the minimal distortion ensures that the quality of playback is maintained. The high signal purity allows for an exceptional music experience.
