- Carbon Fiber Blend Cone (CFB) - The CFB composition uses a potent carbon fiber-based cocktail to give you the highest strength-to-weight ratio in the industry.
- Vario-Density Extended Range of Motion Surround (V-ROM) - Provides the ultimate linear control at high excursion while enabling dynamic sounding bass response. The control ribs are compressed to a lower density than the main surround body to provide a continuously variable control system. The harder you control it, the more control you get.
- Tuned Spider System (TSS) - Each suspension is tuned for specific performance characteristics, e.g. High Definition, Power Handling, X-Stiff Control.
- Super Frame (SFrame) - Maximizes the spider diameter, cone diameter, suspension deflection and thus works as a secondary shorting ring and provides additional heat dissipation for better heat flow from the coil.
The first generation of the Z engine was launched at the beginning of 2005. It forever changed the way people thought about a high-performance subwoofer and pushed the limits of the
The Z3 series uses an impressive open neodymium engine with 13 lenses of N48 grade, just like its big brothers in the Z4 series.
The steel engine parts from the USA are made in DD Audio's hometown of OKC is machined, and all moving parts are made in the USA using the best materials and manufacturing methods available
The current Z's feature several design improvements over previous models. DD was able to overcome structural saturation levels and increase peak and total flux levels by DD more energy through our magnetic lens architecture via more efficient flow paths , a tighter alignment of the lenses and converging flow lines.
This Free flow cooling system has been improved by installing longitudinal pole valves to increase airflow to the spool. Then DD DD increased the thermal mass and used heat absorbing coatings in the target areas to aid long-term heat dissipation.
Additionally, DD made geometric changes that increased allow maximum deflection and a wider range of system configurations.
The The eye-catching look of the Z is characterized by a black oxide layer in combination with red anodized accents. The engines are also decorated with custom CNC engraved designs, and each engine is engraved with its production number, making each part unique.
You will find that the standard TS parameters for the Z series are missing. This omission is intentional as each Z is made to order, allowing for zillions of possible parameter sets, making a static set of specifications highly susceptible to inaccuracy.
The Z-Series subwoofers are also equipped with the Evolution Subwoofer Package (ESP). The ESP-equipped drivers feature larger diameter suspensions and deeper frames than standard subwoofers, as well as exclusive surround and cone designs. ESP subwoofers are truly built to maximize performance in their respective size class.
The Z Series comes standard with an oversized drywall black composite dust cap, red logo and treated pulp membrane, can but optionally with a custom suspension configuration, alternative composite dust caps, composite diaphragms, powder coated frames and a variety of logo options to give your subwoofer a customized look and/or additional performance for a specific application.
