Next USB by SPL Lab

The SPL Lab Next-USB multifunction four-channel measuring device is designed to transfer data received from Next-LAB sensors to a PC, tablet, or smartphone. Unlike the Next-LCD, this device does not have a built-in display and cannot be used for standalone operation. The main advantage of Next-USB is that it offers four independent lab bus connections for connecting pressure sensors, microphones, or power sensors. This makes Next-USB truly a universal and fully cascadeable tool. For example, if the user purchases a set for measuring sound pressure, they can later supplement it with a microphone for measuring AFC or with a power sensor for measuring current and voltage. Simultaneous operation with four signal sources is possible. To control the device and transfer data from Next-USB, the device can be connected via USB to the PC or, if the Wi-Fi module is installed, via a wireless network to a tablet or smartphone.

Ergonomics
The Next-USB device is executed as a monoblock, which features a control button, a USB port for connecting to the PC and charging the device, four lab bus ports for connecting sensors, supply switches, and a three-color LED to indicate the status and battery charge level. The device can be supplied with an integrated Wi-Fi module for connection and management over the wireless network. The housing of the device is made of shock-resistant plastic.

Functions

  • Measuring sound pressure with the Next-Lab SPL sensor.
  • Measuring AFC and performing a spectral analysis of the signal with the Next-Lab RTA microphone.
  • Measuring the current-voltage characteristics of direct and alternating current circuits with the Next-Lab Power Sensor.
  • Possibility of simultaneous work with four signal sources.
  • Option to control the device and transfer data to the PC via a USB connection or a wireless network (optional).
  • Measurement of the properties of acoustic systems for home, in cars, or in concert halls and their setup.
  • Measurement of the properties of household, automotive, or industrial power supply networks and their setup.
  • Preparation and execution of car sound contests of all formats (AMT, EMMA, dB Drag, IASCA, BassRace, etc.) as well as over the internet (optional).

Package contents

  • Main unit
  • USB connection cable for charging and connecting to a PC
  • Spl-Lab-Messcenter-Software for Windows
  • Audio CD with audio tracks for tuning (sine, sweep tones, noise)

Frequent questions about Next USB

Wie funktioniert das SPL Lab Next USB?

The SPL Lab Next USB is a four-channel measuring device that can receive data from Next-LAB sensors. This data transmission occurs via USB or with an optional Wi-Fi module to a PC, tablet, or smartphone. It offers four independent lab bus connections, allowing the connection of pressure sensors, microphones, or power sensors. This enables simultaneous operation with up to four signal sources. The device is controlled via a USB connection, and it features a three-color LED display for operational status.

Welche Sensortypen können an das Next USB angeschlossen werden?

Various types of sensors can be connected to the SPL Lab Next USB, including pressure sensors for sound pressure measurements, microphones such as the Next-Lab RTA microphone for AFC measurement, and power sensors for current-voltage measurement in DC and AC circuits. The four lab bus connections support modular expansion, allowing users to add additional sensors as needed. This makes the Next USB a versatile tool for acoustic and electrical measurements in various environments.

Welche Art von Netzwerken unterstützt das Gerät?

The Next USB from SPL Lab supports both wired and wireless networks. By default, data transmission occurs via a USB connection to the PC. However, with the optional Wi-Fi module, the device can also be integrated into a wireless network, enabling control and data transmission to tablets and smartphones. This versatility allows for more flexible handling in different application scenarios, whether in the car, at home, or in professional environments.

Kann das Next USB eigenständig arbeiten?

No, the SPL Lab Next USB is not designed for standalone operation. Unlike the Next-LCD, it does not have a built-in display. It must be connected to a PC, tablet, or smartphone to display and process the captured measurement data. The main function is to collect data from connected sensors and transmit it via USB or Wi-Fi to external devices, where it can be analyzed with suitable software.

Wie robust ist das Gehäuse des Next USB?

The housing of the SPL Lab Next USB is made of shock-resistant plastic, which gives the device high robustness. This feature is particularly advantageous in mobile usage scenarios, where the device may be exposed to different environmental conditions. The solid housing construction ensures that the internal components are optimally protected during transport and use, thereby increasing the lifespan of the device.

Welche Möglichkeiten gibt es, das Next USB zu verwenden?

The SPL Lab Next USB offers numerous application possibilities. It can be used for measuring sound pressure, for frequency analysis with the RTA microphone, and for current-voltage measurement. Additionally, it is suitable for setting up and measuring acoustic and electrical properties in cars, concert venues, and home systems. Its versatility also allows for preparation and participation in car audio competitions such as AMT, EMMA, and dB Drag. With the ability to combine the device with various sensors, it is suitable for many professional and private applications.

Welche Vorteile bieten die vier Lab-Bus-Anschlüsse?

The four lab bus connections of the SPL Lab Next USB allow for the simultaneous connection of up to four different sensors. This enables parallel data collection from multiple sources, such as sound pressure sensors and microphones. The ability to cascade sensors makes the device a universal tool for various measurement applications. This functionality allows for comprehensive analysis of acoustic and electrical signals in real-time and is particularly suitable for complex measurement environments.

Welche Art von Spektralanalyse ist möglich?

With the SPL Lab Next USB, spectral analyses can be performed, particularly using the Next-Lab RTA microphone. This function is crucial for analyzing the frequency components of a signal recorded in various environments such as concert halls or when calibrating home systems. Through spectral analysis with the Next USB, frequency responses can be examined in detail, and corresponding adjustments for sound optimization can be made. This is an indispensable tool for audio technicians who rely on precise signal analysis.

Bietet das Next USB Möglichkeiten zur Stromnetzbewertung?

Yes, the SPL Lab Next USB can be used to evaluate the characteristics of power supply networks. With the appropriate Next-Lab Power Sensor, both direct current and alternating current circuits can be analyzed for their current-voltage characteristics.
